The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has topped a poll of readers of Edge magazine and industry experts to find the top 100 games of all time.

The 10-year-old video for the Nintendo 64 games console help usher in a new era of 3D gaming.

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Super Mario 64
4. Half Life 2
5. Super Mario World
6. Zelda: A Link to the Past
7. Halo: Combat Evolved
8. Final Fantasy XII
9. Tetris
10. Super Metroid

Apart from Halo being there, and Deux Ex not in the top 10, seem like a pretty comprehensive list.
7 of the 10 games there are Nintendo, or came out Nintendo first. ;) :D :p

Discuss...:p

Was just looking at this and thought it was a pile of tripe.

Virtua Tennis 3 in the top 100? I assume VT1 is above it then? :p

These polls are useless in my opinion, as it only takes into account those games in "living" memory for the gamers that vote in them.

That list looks very wrong to me. Where's Civilization (II or IV), the Sim City games and Monkey Island. Half-Life was better than Half-Life 2 and there are a few Final Fantasy games that are a lot better than XII.

If there is no Space Invaders, Pacman, Elite or Wolfenstein in the list then it is clearly not a valid list of "All Time" greats...

Very true. This happens all the time with football fans voting for the player they think has been the best ever at their club. Most only pick a player that's still there or who has recently retired.

I would have thought industry experts to be pretty on the ball. And to those harping on about Pacman et al... Have you played them lately? :p

Great list. I would have stuck Mario 64 as number 2, replaced HL2 with the original (who really feels HL2 is better than HL?) and added SF2, but all in all one of the better i've seen. Re4 was a great game, but wouldn't have quite made the top 10 for me.

Load of tosh, half life 2 4th, i had more fun playing Call of Duty. They seem to have missed out all the old classics too, a lot of the older stuff is more fun than todays games IMO.

Very surprised Resident Evil 4 is that high, it's great, but never the second best of all time.

I also thought Half-Life 2 was poor, it was never as good as the first one. It's there on technical achievements alone, in terms of gameplay the first one surpasses it in every way.

I'm quite suprised there's no GTA title in the top ten tbh. Didn't Vice city win about every award going in the year it was published?
