Just today ive sent my H10 back on another RMA due to it being knackered. I was in the hope i could pay the difference for the zen vision m and replace it with that but i couldnt. So, ive asked my dad if he would give me £70 for my H10 when i get it back to which he said he would think about it, but hes curious to get one so i think he will. So im now in the market for a player that is ~£200 and the zen and X5 are the only 2 that strike me. I wanted to get the Zen Sleek as a shop was doing a mint deal on them, but theyve stopped doing it now.

Specs im after:
-Good sound quality, preferably match or exceed that of my H10
-20+GB storage, ill never need more than 20GB so im not too bothered about more
-Couldnt give a stuff about video, but it would be nice
-Not too big, and not too heavy. Its gonna be getting ported to uni with me and probably a gym in the near future.
-No ipods, i know they are best bang to buck, but i dont like them.
-Software, i want it to show up as a drive in my computer, either that or very simple software. Sonicstage and Itunes do nothing but annoy me.

Cheers for any advice guys, its all helpful :)

How do you get your DVDs on there? Does the supplied software do it?

Also, I have all my music encoded as m4a with iTunes, so will I have to rip it all again if I buy the Vision:M?

mostly the dvd's are done *ahem* perfectly legally of course

they mean that they are putting large media files onto it.

I am about to buy one (tomorrow) from a high street retailer, as with the VAT and shipping, the price difference online is about 20 quid, and i would prefer to get it immediately anyways. Im getting the black one as it is very stylish with the glowing blue buttons.

Should be good for my flight to USA coming up at the end of the month. Should do me proud, as i have a couple of movies to put onto it

OK, so it seems clear the zen is the one to get :) One question, is the software alright to use? sonicstage had me pulling my hair out and is the reason i ditched my minidisk.

Cheers

From what i have read. the software supplied is ok to good, but i also read that you can use WMP10 with it aswell, which is probably what i will do most of the time.

For video conversion, the program it comes with will handle pretty much anything so that the zen vision m can play it, even though the player is very good at different formats

hey stelly, ive just replaced my Zen Sleek with a Vision: M

i can honestly say its the nicest thing ive ever owned / used.
the picture quality is outstanding, and so colourful.

ive got about 20GB of music, so the extra 10 i didnt have on my sleek is now used for video
the software is okay,. im well used to it havving used it for so many years now ( since the Zen touch )

your best bet is to goto a high street retailer and get a demo of it and a feel for it.

had mine for 2 weeks and its awesome, star trek and south park on the train, the radio is great and the screen superb

I just use simple drag and drop wth supplied software - scratches easily so you might want to get an Ishield to cover it with

great piece of kit :)
