Zero punctuation: Fallout 3

I'm confusioned... You're not going to play it because of the lack of punctuation?

Zero punctuation is a game review, found easily on youtube and google - can't link due to swearies. He always picks up the negative points which are often valid but don't let that review throws you off, Fallout 3 is genuinely an awesome game.

Yeah, I heard the grammer wasn't great so I've decided against playing it :(
Shame really as it seemed to get quite good reviews:(

edit: Daam you mr jones :D

Mmm as much as grammar is a necessity in some things, I can't see this being so badly narrated (with words) that it's unplayable. Seriously, grammar is not a key issue, are they narrated with audio aswell mr. jones?

Wait, you're joking right?

All conversations in the game are voice acted and it isn't going to be grammatically poor compared to my English.

Am I joking? I'm going to buy it ASAP when I get the cash but it's... err goldfingers issue. I'm just trying to talk him into buying it. :p *ninja edit*

I got the game and installed it. Didnt even know it was made by oblivion people, then the second I got to leaving the vault and it asked if i wanted to edit anything. I just thought, this is oblivion.. then when i got outside i thought that too.

I aint played it properly , and ill give it some more time when i get the chance, but its very similar indeed to oblivion :)

Stunning game though, and good fun so far

It is VERY similar to Oblivion but all the differences you find makes this far far superior to Oblivion (and I'm an Oblivion fan, put in over 100hours of game time on it). Something about the different array of weapons, the more variety of people you meet, the quest and random exploration often brings you little hidden gems.

First thing I will do with it is say to myself "This is not elder scrolls, this is apocolyptic chaos!!" *shoots beasties*

I'm really starting to get bored of these reviews, especially as I now find them barely amusing, and they are normally very vague and consist of pointing out the smallest of mistakes, many of which I've never heard to complaints about.

For example, he describes mixing VATs and Realtime Shooting as being like mixing jam and pus, without explaining what he finds so bad about mixing them. I, and most people I've talked to, find the combination enhances the game.

haha sorry for a little confusion above, Lejosh you obviously hadn't heard about zero puntuation reviews, so I took this oppurtunity to have a laugh unfortunately doctor jones posted seconds above me explaining what zero punctuation was making the joke void.

And the fears were that it was just oblivion re skinned, as I really didn't like certain parts of oblivon - the dull fighting, the repetitive dungeons with pointless loot making exploring worthless, the leveling up system meaning you wern't really increasing in power at all and those dam gaurds wtfpwning you as soon as you tried to do somthing fun.

Lol, do a quick search as the guy has done many, many reviews on most of the popular games that have been raved about, but like said above he makes some valid points about their flaws.

He appears to absolutely love Portal and thinks Silent Hill 2 is one of the best games ever. Now i cant comment on Portal as i dont have the Orange Box, however Silent Hill 2 he is spot on with as i think it is a great game.

Errm, he did point it out, if you can work out how to use a gun normally and aim, yourself, the skill goes out the window by using VAT's. its also, incredibly slow and pointless and for me, unlike him, I got bored of ridiculously slow combat within the first 3 fights.

He's right, you really can't mix combat styles like that, it doesn't work, it feels completely unrealistic and not in tune with everything else in the game. Its not even explained away as a mutanted ability you've gained, you can just randomly pause time to auto attack people

His stuff is accurate by and large but, as with anything and especially comedy, similar jokes over and over again lose their funny.

Echoe'd.

Seems to me that most of the points he makes have already been raised by gamers on various forums. Suppose most of these guys complaining are the ones that adore his reviews, gaining a sense of self-worth through the mention of their points.

Zero Punctuation should never be used as a reliable resource when deciding whether or not to buy a game; his reviews are only really good for a few laughs, nothing more.

Fallout 3 is great game, worth every penny and VATS is great. Plus, if you don't like it, you don't have to use it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you. A friend of mine didn't like it, didn't use it, but still says the game is the best he's played in the last couple of years.

Actually, it is explained. Both in game and in the manual. V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System), is a feature of your pip-boy. And it's not like there are no penalties. Yahtzee makes out that VATS makes the game too easy and has no consequence. All rubbish. You have to spend AP, and you don't start with a huge amount. Also, your weapon condition deteriorates much quicker in VATS than when free shooting.

VATS is a breath of fresh air in a shooter like this, it allows for some interesting and more tactical situations. Hell, you can shoot missiles and grenades out of the air if you are quick enough. Plus, who doesn't like slow motion mutant head explosions?
