Zombie attack - what weapon would you use?

You haven't give this much thought have you?

Most people don't seem to have put much thought into their choices either - not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing tho hah.

As you'd want to be highly mobile in this kind of situation many of the swords and clubbing options people are suggesting would just tire you out from swinging them and/or carting the weight about and be awkward to carry.

Other options make a lot of noise which in many movies concerning zombies is a bad thing.

My old and local school has an armoury (CCF section) with around 20 L98A2 cadet rifles+ammo. These are basically the same as the L85 used by the army but limited to semi auto fire. Should a zombie outbreak ever materialize, I know where I'm holing up...

They used to jam and misfire a crazy amount. Not what i'd want for my zombie apocalypse.

Edit: Actually, i'm thinking about the L98A1 with the manual cocking handle I used to use back in the day.

I'd also employ dimple singing on megaphone with a ziptie around his balls as psychological warfare.

Would this scare them off or entice them in because I don't want to be bait?

I do feel that some aren't taking this seriously.

yeah we had the a1s when I was there, trick was to yank the handle back then let go completely. Also make sure they were well oiled XD. We got the a2s just before I left, I had the training but never managed to fire one live. Had a go with one on a digital range (I forget the proper name, DCCT or summit...) and it was bloody good fun. Sadly they didn't have any zombie scenarios :/

Anyhoo, the other part of my plan was ... well ... the fact its an armoury. Big heavy door, lots of security etc. May even be a few rat packs still kicking around...

Glock 18c with supressor. Small so that I am still mobile and nimble, quiet so I don't attract attention, large clip size with option of fully or semi auto so can adjust to my situation.

Obviously Titanium Crowbar. Guns jam and run out of ammunition. Blades get stuck. Maces are heavy. Crowbar can be used for opening doors as well as zombie heads.

Next preference a Lobo. Not that one exists yet.

Failing that Shaolin Spade. Woked wonders for the blind guy in WWZ.

sword like in the walking dead - also a hand gun in case I got overrun - also would want some tough padded armor like bikers wear to protect various parts of the body.

I liked the idea of a spear and shield thou - so one of those riot shields and a decent spear might be fun but I could see ones arm getting tired lugging a spear around.

Hmmm, a sword would require a fair amount of energy to swing around, especially if you were surrounded by zombie hoards, I recon it wouldn't take them long to tire you out then it's game over.
I would definitely go with a chainsaw for effect, then once that was out of fuel go at them with a spas-12 with dragon breath shells.

Have you ever actually used a chainsaw? They aint exactly light. Not to mention youre gonna run out of fuel after 10 mins or so of running the blade.

I reckon i'd want to use weapons that i'm trained to use and familiar with, and given that chances are i'd be at work when things kick off.
so my choices would be

gold fit rover mobility and comms in one package.
personal weapon - SA80 A2 fitted with susat, rail handguard, LLM, and a bayonet.
Side arm - Glock 17
i'd also grab a GPMG or LMG
Then i'd run to the ammo compound and grab plenty of ammunition and chuck it in the rover before stopping by the naafi and raiding the shop for non perishables, then literally head for the hills.

I reckon i'd put up a good fight should i come across a horde.

Wouldnt your superiors take issue with you running off with all that stuff? :o

How much does a titanium crowbar weigh? 1kg? For the extra energy youre gonna expend to get that tiny little thing to smash a zombie skull, you might as well have gotten something heavier that could do it in one light swing.

Has to be a sword or other melee weapon that will last. Remember those zombies will do nothing but get softer over time, that and it would be quiet
Firearms can break or jam, need ammo and most importantly would essentially act as a dinner bell every time its used.
