Well my Crucial Ballistix PC5300 died last week so I used my old AMD stuff. I couldn't boot at all with either of them in, i'd just get one long continuous beep then it would shut down.
Anyway, my OcUK RAM arrived and I installed the new mobo/cpu again. As I was about to turn it on again, I just though, why not try the dead RAM again, may aswell try. Installed one stick of the dead Crucial, and it booted fine. Turned the computer back off, installed the other one, booted fine too. So now I'm running 2x512mb OcUK PC6400 RAM and 2x512mb supposedly dead Ballistix RAM. Weird.
Is it normal for RAM to play dead like that? Maybe it wasn't even the RAM in the first place that died.
Also: I'm getting realy poor performance from this 2gb of RAM. On a fresh XP install, it takes like 8 seconds to just load up Firefox, and like 4 seconds to load up something when I choose it from the Start menu.
