Hi guys,

There is a small group of us who are looking to do a zombie experience day but we don't know that much about them and what is the best out there.

Have any of you OCer's been on one of these days or know how they are organised and what's involved?

:D

I went to one near Kidderminster for a stag do a couple of weeks ago, be prepared to get the absolute crap beaten out of you I'm a big guy but the guys playing zombies were something else!

I went for one with my wife and a bunch of randoms near Birmingham. Can confirm you do get roughed up, at one point one of them cannoned himself into me from across a portacabin and knocked my helmet off. The next day we were both pretty bruised and muscle sore from wrestling them off you or holding the shields.

All in all - a funny as hell day.

Think I went to the same place for a stag last November, zombie boot camp it was. We did police riot training and shooting and it was the most exhausting thing I've done!

Yep sounds like the same one.
The day we turned up also happened to be one of the hottest days of the year so far, there was one point I wasn't sure whether I was actually going to die or not.

Went to one at Scarborough a few months ago for a stag do, was an airsoft type thing, was good fun kicking in doors shooting 'zombies' :p The lads that run it were decent and everyone had fun :)

Sounds a bit brutal, but all in the name of fun ha ha!! I have done airsoft and paintball, and I am assuming they are tame compared to this.

So what are the events like in terms of kit you wear, type of games, and how do you 'kill' the zombies etc??

I went on the zed events manor last year, was really good fun. It's only airsoft, and no contact, but when you get down into the pitch black corridors and there's only one torch and you can hear movements (or imagine them) it does get tense! :)

When you need to sign a disclaimer to say you've signed the disclaimer and one of the first things you get told is "Don't take the pee because these guys won't take your crap" you know it's going to be a good day!

The one I done you got kitted up in riot helmets, knee and elbow protectors and a chest rig all which instantly make you boiling hot before you've even moved!

Then we had a couple of training sessions, one with riot shields and training batons and another with the paintball M16s and room clearance.

Then you get given your shield and baton loaded into the back of a transit van driven round a bit and kicked out at an abandoned warehouse and all hell breaks loose you've got about 10 "zombies" flying at you from all directions, throwing you all over the place and you've basically got to batter them with the training batons.
They die when they feel like it so you can be hitting and throwing and getting thrown around a lot before they go down and they normally get back up when your back is turned.

After that we had a break for lunch then got loaded up with the paintball kit back in the van and back to the inside of the abandoned warehouse this time where you got ambushed for every angle and basically just had to shoot and hope while getting thrown around again.

Hard work but great fun, all the guys that ran the one I went to were ex or serving forces and seriously fit but up for a good laugh.

Ah yes I remember it now, the dark transit van and the ex-military guys. We nicknamed the boss "The General" as he took no poo from anyone!

The batons they gave us were padded and the zombies were kitted out in full padding so they took a lot of beating to die!

lol I thought this was going to be about those daft social events they did in town centres recently. Sounded awful.

The ones described here sound much more interesting - may have to see if the wife fancies it as she's really into zombie games/movies etc.

She really enjoyed the shooting ranges in Vegas and is a bit of an action girl (beat me at the range AND withstood more G's in the stunt planes where I had to stop as I felt ill)...shameful I know.

Quite like the sound of beating the crap out of a zombie with a stick. lol.
