I heard about Class 3 a while ago, and it looked superb! With the fun I had with DayZ (despite not being a zombie survival, more of a 'run or get rabies' kind of scenario) and playing Resident Evil as a kid, I've been dying for a good true to the genre zombie simulation! Yet there isn't one... until Class 3! Then I just found out its Xbox Live Arcade only! Really!? That's ****ing ********. Imagine DayZ, without the retarded animations and even worse A.I, where every building is lootable, within an RPG open world, with a single player option... Yeah, then they ruin it by making it exclusive to mostly retards.
Why are developers so thick? I've honestly seen horses take a **** on the road with less density than these idiots! Look at the success of Nazi Zombies! Look at the success of DayZ! Look at the utter fail indie title Class 3 has become! Infact, lets look at every 'zombie' game;
Resident Evil 1-CV:
Epic, absolutely brilliant games, played every single classic Resident Evil through at least 5 times each (2 & 3 probably close to a hundred). Yet tbh, while they are great fun and I'm still playing them multiple times a year to this day, they are outdated, and I just want to experience this kind of thing in an open world, realistic simulation, preferably in HD & first person/over the shoulder. It turns out, from the success of every 'zombie' wannabee out there, I'm not alone.
Left 4 Dead 1&2:
Haven't played these myself, except a couple of games around a friends house, they are extremely fun but do not offer anywhere near a zombie survival, they are Co-op/multiplayer action titles based around the most fail version of the zombie yet; Usain Bolt. Despite that they are still fun, but lack any kind of survival based gaming and are way too linear and unrealistic.
Class 3:
Never have I wanted a game to succeed so much, despite hating the developers and hoping to see them fail. I hope it succeeds with extreme success to help the idiotic developers that don't want to remain idiots and make something so amazing available to one platform, yet I hope it fails for that exact reason. It looks perfect, but its not excuse enough to own a console in my eyes.
DayZ:
Brilliant fun, and essentially free. This doesn't change the fact its a lost opportunity, its just Left 4 Dead on a military simulation engine in a free roam world, the things you fight are not zombies, haven't they realized by now that in all honesty, people don't want to fight zombies that can run faster than them, they are closer to vampires than zombies! People may enjoy this, but true fans of the zombie genre will get that sinking feeling after logging out from Dayz, feeling all the pain of the massive opportunity that Rocket squandered.
Despite this, DayZ is still the best zombie title out to date.
Nazi Zombies:
Hmm, its good fun for what it is, but for the same reasons as all of the above, it just doesn't deliver.
Dead rising 1 & 2:
Incredibly fun games, Dead Rising 1 was astounding, but what would you expect from the godfather of the zombie video game; Capcom? Despite not being intentional, the clunky controls also added a lot to the game, which were sadly revamped for the masses in DR2. The only thing the franchise fails on to be what is so desperately needed right now is this; zombies are cannon fodder! It's fun, infact its a hell of a lot of fun to rip a zombie in half with your bare hands, and throw its corpse into a crowd, and then to give the 42,000 inhabitants of Willamette a German Suplex while dressed as Megaman...
But in the end, its just another arcade game. It's okay though Capcom, what you did with the original Resident Evil's still makes me love you.
Dead Frontier:
Fantastic little MMO, its exactly like Class 3 except in a classic GTA-style birds eye view, which isn't a problem... Until the majority of the Z's come sprinting towards you so fast your forced to stand and fight. It isn't a zombie game if you can't run and hide, that's our advantage over them afterall; a working brain. Getting old now, there are more fictional works out there with sprinting 'zombies'... well vampires, than proper zombies. Respect what George A. Romero did with the genre for gods sake! If it wasn't for him, the majority of you wouldnt even know what the word zombie meant! Don't take his hardwork and **** all over it, but then again that's what the gaming industry does best, just look at the majority of the amazing games, constantly ruined by sequels.
Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare:
a lot of fun, played this myself and was very impressed, despite the fact a lot of them ran, a fair amount of them didn't, infact quite a few of them had no legs and crawled after you, never, ever giving up, true to zombie fashion. Nothing prepared me for the awesomeness of walking down the street, staying out of site and then BOOM a hunched over, rotting corpse of a woman comes steamrolling out of an alleyway and completely floors me. It was amazing! Never have I enjoyed being eaten so much!
What stops it being amazing though? a lot of them run, and Rockstar are pathetic and can't get the game working on PC, lol.
Dead Island:
Again, one of the best ones here, but really let itself down by not at all delivering what they hyped for over seven years... It was just another overglorified vampie game, with no zombie survival whatsoever, the only things that were any kind of threat were 'the infected' who were freshly diseased human's who hadn't fully succumbed to the virus yet, and RAN AFTER YOU, there are better ways to make 'zombies' challenging, how about giving us no ammunition, quadruple their numbers and make their A.I capable of actually closing in on you, putting you under pressure to survive. Not bloody walking towards you in a single file like they are queuing up for a high velocity cure to the thinkbox.
Nothing but lost potential, dumbed down for the idiot who wants flashy special effects and things moving fast, the kind of person who bases his entire life and ambitions on Ken Master from Street Fighter, the kind of person who only owns Call of Duty and thinks UFC is the bestest sport evar! Trololol.
Dead Frontier:
Close, very close, it is text based but in the end, you have to wait or pay for 'energy' or 'turns' to actually play, you'll be lucky to put ten minutes into it a day, I understand your f2p, but find a better way to fund your costs...
Urban Dead:
a lot of fun, doesn't even have any real graphics, everything is text, even combat, yet it has the same curse Dead Frontier has.
However, the developers of Class 3 are releasing an MMO named Class 4 in the future, although I have no doubt what-so-ever that it will be I don't know... Nintendo DS exclusive? LMAO.
Why can't some company come along and actually cash in on this opportunity properly?
I'm aware I've missed a lot, but I can't exactly list them all, only the prominent ones.
