I'm creating the proverbial brick. Someone wish me luck quick.

MSc in Interactive Entertainment Technology in Trinity College Dublin. (linky)

Game design basically, thing is they never got around to telling me where to go, how to register etc so I have to go in and find all that out early and hope I still make it to whatever inductions on time. Wootage. :o

Good luck to anyone else starting a course out there recently :)

Good luck, I wanted to do a MSc after my BSc but didnt have the money so now I have to work for a couple of years!

Sure it will all be fine after the first couple of days once everyone is in the swing of things. My friends who did MSc give the impression that most attention goes to the undergrads in the first week trying to get them registered and in the right place and the post grads should just know whats going on.

It's just a one year course, all I can afford really. Having to borrow off my parents (luckily my dad just got a good redundancy package right when he was going to retire anyway) for this year. Just hoping to get a job out of it next year so I can pay them back :)

Best of luck! I'm on a two year Masters (full time) and it is a big step up from Undergraduate studying. Make sure you hit the ground running, or at least at a reasonable jog... ;)

Good stuff.

You'll certainly have yourself in a good position for future employment gain when you come out the other side. I'd love to do a degree, let alone an MA. I'll see what happens on that front when/if the time comes first though!

You dont realise how expensive it is to just take one year off. Im lucky as im living with my parents and also have a girlfriend who paid for my course fees. Ive spent the last 9 months saving hard and i would say that i have just enough to live on...time to prepare for student life again :D

The main costs for me were:

£3950 - course fees
£3000 - 12 months rent, food etc (paid this in advance to my parent)
£2000 - travel (train for the year)

Game design? So a burger flipper then? So i got told from on here.

Seriously, good luck though, in my 3rd year of game design now :D Hopefully gonna be going into a modelling masters this time next year!

Just finished my Masters on Monday. Can't believe education is over. Forever!

So relieved :D But still, doing an MA was very worthwhile and I am glad I did it.

Just thought I'd pop back in and give a one month on update :)

Thanks for all the support from everyone here first of all. It really is a whole lot harder and so much more is expected out of you then in a degree course. We're expected to do the 20 hours lectures plus 40 hours out of hours work on top of that just to complete the research and assignments. It's been tough getting to grips with it but my previous knowledge is helping a lot, there are some in the course that are really struggling atm.

Just to give an idea of the name the course seems to have in the world, we have a guy from the south of Italy, a guy from Australia and a guy from America who all travelled here to do the course just from what they'd heard about it. It's supposed to have gained a very good reputation in the 2 years (I'm in the 3rd year of it) it's been going.

It really is a shock to the system though going from a summer of lazing around doing work on my own time to having to juggle so many different things as well as trying to think about a dissertation in the background. For the larger assignments and for the dissertation just doing something that's been done before will not get you good marks. We're expected to break new ground and come up with completely new methods of doing things that have never been done before. Luckily I've got a few ideas up my sleeve that I'm working on for my dissertation.

Anyway I'm rambling a bit, I can safely say I've never been so stressed and tired in my life but I'm loving the experience too :)
