Hey all,

I have recently started using the Zone Alarm Firewall (Free one) and I was wondering if anyone else notices the fact that for me the firewall will use at max around 20,000K of Mem Usage (vsmon.exe) under any other internet stuff.

But when under MSN Messenger (Live Beta) it seems to go up to around 50,000K of Mem usage (vsmon.exe) and when I exit MSN Messenger it stays at that.

Just wondering if anyone else notices this?

Thanks...

I wouldn't know if its slowing my system down tbh, so I guess its not.

I don't have Live Messenger start on startup so its OK on startup.

But as soon as I open Windows Live Messenger it goes up.

have you had vsmon.exe trying to shut down or has an error and needsshut down?

Not quite sure what is meant by this, but i don't think so.

MY VSMON seems to have died down now, its not high at all, I am running Firefox and Live Beta and it is 15,000K Mem usage, thats wierd :|

EDIT:

I quite like zone alarm now that problem has gone away, I am thinking of getting the pro version. Is there much difference?

But a chat service such as live messenger surely would need extra looking after by zone alarm as viruses, trojans etc can easily be spread.

Yeah but when i close down the messenger it is still high?

Hi there,

I can pretty much 100% confirm, for me the problem was that I didn't have an a ntivirus software protecting MSN Live Beta. So if you attach one and then reset, it should go back to normal.

Thats what happend for me.

Hope it helps...
