Hi guys, im trying to set up firesharing across a few machines on our wireless network and cant get it working.. I am under the impression that zone alarm is blocking it..

On that note im keen to know if zonealarm is still one of the best out there or what would be recommended? Need firewall + AV.

Use Noadware and Ewido for malware/spyware

Any info appreciated guys

What version of ZA are you using? The paid for versions have a built-in wireless feature which should help. When I do a new install on my PC and then put ZA on, it detects my Uni network and asks me what to do with it. Perhaps ZA isn't detecting the network. In any case, try turning ZA off to see if the filesharing works. It could be something else stopping it from working and you need to verify that it is ZA that is causing the problem.

As for firewalls, ZA is still a good one to use, nod32 is a good av.

by file sharing i mean just simply sharing files across a network so that we all can access stuff off all machines.

ZA usually reports anything thats going on, so you may have inadvertantly disabled the network if you clikced 'deny' without reading the message if it was detected.

If ZA doesnt detect the network, then I doubt its ZA's fault that it isnt working.

Check under firewall settings
