Zotac 9300itx Northbridge Cooler Replacement?

The pushpins are easy to remove by carefully squeezing their ends with small pliers and pushing them back through the MB. The MCP heatsink dimensions are 67mcm (L) x 3.6 mm (W) x 3.6 mm (H), and the distance between the holes is 65 mm. The Noctua NC-U6 should fit fine, but it has been discontinued and is out of stock everywhere in the UK. The Thermalright HR-05 would be too high for most cases (the SLI version is unlikely to fit the board). The Enzotech CNB-R1 will fit, but I am not sure whether it will be better than the stock heatsink.

The heatsink looked like the pusphins are in different location than standard ones, are they in the normal position of a northbridge heatsink?

I was thinking of a Xigmatek Porter N881 or the thermal right SLI as I have a Gemini II CPU cooler which covers half the stock northbridge

I do not think that there are "standard" MCP heatsinks, what normally matters is the distance between the holes. My feeling is that both the Xigmatek Porter N881 and the Thermalright HR-05 SLI will be in conflict with the SATA connectors. I am sure that the Noctua NC-U6 fits (have seen a picture), and it can still be bought for about £30 delivered from the US on ebay.

The stock MCP heatsink is not that bad. If you want to see really low MCP temperatures, you could attach a silent 14 dBA 40mm Scythe Mini Kaze http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/fans/mini-kaze.html.

meansizzler,

I also have a GF9300-I-E and a Gemini Coolermaster II... what did you go for in the end in terms of NB replacement?

thanks
