I have a Zotac 980 Ti AMP! and the temps and noise lately have been getting a bit excessive! Playing games like the Witcher 3 and BF4 etc. make the GPU reach 84C with the fans running at 90% (pretty loud!)... It never used to run this hot or loud! Ambient temp in this room is currently 22C which is fine.

I noticed the temps were getting a bit high before I changed my case from a Raijintek Agos to an NZXT S340. The card looks fine and it's clean with no dust and all fans work. The S340 case has 2 x 140mm front intake fans, 1 x 120mm rear exhaust and 1 x 120mm top exhaust.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? It's not overclocked by myself... Just the factory oc.

Is that 84 degrees with 90% fans for more than a couple of minutes? (i.e. the fans only just sped up and you're just looking at the starting temp?)

It could be the cooler is not seated properly.

The fans ramp up in no time!... Literally just a few seconds in to any graphically intensive game and then they tend to stay at that speed. I wonder if it has anything to do with G-Sync? that's the only other change (went from a standard 1080p using DVI connection to a 1440p screen using the DisplayPort connection and G-Sync @ 144Hz). Drivers are all up to date too. Even less demanding games are now mid-high 70's when they were usually reaching temps around 60C.

The card used to idle at about 40C with the fans off (they come on at 60C) and now it idles at around 55C+.... The cooler doesn't look or feel loose and I'll probably lose the warranty if I remove it and reapply thermal paste.
