I received my 1070 this morning and I'm confused as to how to connect it up.
This is my first card since my 6950.

From my PSU I have 2 x 6 pin connectors.

The 1070 came with 2 x 8 pin connectors that split into 2 x 6 pin.

The card itself has 2 x 8 pin slots.

Can anyone tell me what I do to connect it up? I'm a complete noob, I know.

To clarify:
PSU - 2 x 6 pin
Graphics card - 2 x 8 pin ports
In with the GPU - (1 x 8 pin that split into 2 x 6 pin) x 2

It looks like your power supply doesn't have though power connectors to power the Zotac AMP 1070 :(

What is the make and model of the power supply?

The Founders Edition 1070 as well as some others only require 1x 8pin power, so providing your power supply is good enough you could use a 2x 6 pin to 1x 8 pin adaptor (like you got with the Zotac card) to power it. The other option of course is a new power supply.

Ah crap.

That's what I was thinking. So on my PSU I need 2 x 8 pin or 4 x 6 pin then use the 2 x 6 pin to 8 pin adaptors

Why would you need 4 x6 connecters to power 2x8 connecters?

Connect 1 x6 to 2 x 8 pin connectors that split into 2 x 6 pin then do same with other 1x6 to other spliter =1x6 PSU to 1x8 card using 1 spliter per 1x6 psu connector

The GPU came with two adapters. Each adapted has 2 x 6 pin leading into 1 x 8 pin.

Do I need to connect both my 6 pins into 1 adapter? If so, I'll need 4 x 6 pin in total.

Sorry I must sound like a total noob here.

Are you telling me I only need to put 1 x 6pin into each 8 pin adapter and just leave 1 of the 6 pins free on each adapter?

Yes1x6 per spliter then you will have your 2 8 pin connectors to the card

It's not great, it's a Dell one. I did make another thread about it last week and people seemed to think it'd be ok for the card.

Ewww I would never connect a generic PSU to an expensive GPU

I would always recommend a PSU from a well respected manufacturer (Corsair, EVGA, Be Quiet etc)

I know. It's just until I can afford a good PSU. The 1070 wiped me out of cash until I get paid.

Catch 22 situation, if I don't put the 1070 in, I'm not going to be able to render good quality video editing I need to do to get paid.

At least with the lower power consumption a 550w PSU should do you fine

The connectors with the 1070 and 2 x 6 pin in and 1 8 pin out.

You need 4 x 6 pins to power the amp a friend just got his.

You need a new PSU. Unless you want to try molex to 8pin for the second connection

I'm not an expert but would never try and connect a £400 graphics card to a generic PSU. And I think the reason the splitter cables have two 6-pins on one end is because the wires will go into different pins on the 8-pin. If you just connected one 6-pin to each splitter some of the connections on the graphics card would not be getting any power.

That EVGA PSU above looks like it could be a good choice. There are just a few things to check: does t have 2x 8pin PCI-E connectors, will it fit in your case (if not you don't have to spend much to get a decent case) and does it have any good reviews.
