Hi guys,

Couple of questions. I have the evga gtx 1080 ftw on order from a competitor. I plan on also buying a Dell s271dg to go with it. However I don't think for my uses I need the 1080 and I think for my needs the 1070 will suffice.

The zotac prices on here seem to be good. I was just wondering whether anyone on here can comment on them and how good they are as I'm struggling to find reviews for them? Also I have the phanteks enthoo pro m. I hear these cards are enormous. Will it fit in my case?

Thanks

I think you would be better off measuring the width of the card from the PCIX slot..that should determine if you have enough space.

It's kind of hard to judge without any measurements in the OP but it should be easy enough to find out.

On your cases website says you can have gpu up 420mm long depending if you have the hdd bracket installed then u can only have gpu 300mm long
the zotac is 325mm long :-)

Its quite a think card, so just over a double slot required.

I can see why people think its a large card now... Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme vs Gigabyte GTX780 ghz

I have the the 1070 amp extreme in a phanteks enthoo luxe case there is around 2.5 inches of space at least between the card and the hard drive bays. Its a large card for sure and its heavy :D I couldnt comment whether it would fit your case you'd need to really measure clearance in there and look at the actual length of the card.

I'm very happy with mine so far, although as a word of warning the spectra light system wont work on the firestorm software you get on the cd but the latest version of this software is easily downloaded direct from zotac anyway.
Seems to overclock well also, not too loud under 100% load and never seen my temps go over 55 degrees yet.

Length wise I know it will clear as I have no HDD cage. I removed it and side mounted my SSD. once I see the size of the Zotac it seemed like a good idea. Also system gets a lot more flow from the front mounted 140's.

At 1440p you are going to want the 1080 (if you want to stay above 60fps in the latest titles )

I have a 1070 on the way and was about to pull the trigger on a 1440p monitor but came to the conclusion after reading many reviews that it isnt quite powerful enough to keep things above 60 at that res on the latest games when maxed out.

Im gonna stick at 1080p until the big 14nm chips or next gen.

I went for the amp extreme and dells271dg. It fit fine but I had to remove the USB 3 cable as it was getting in the way. Very happy with the performance so far. I don't play too many brand new games so it's running at high fps to make the most of the monitor.

on Wednesday I bought a palit Jetstream 1080 and returned it on Friday for a 1070 zotac extreme amp

out of the box the palit hit 1911 where as the zotac hit 2037, both are quiet and cool cards, but from my experience of both, I would say the 1070 was 85% of the performance but only 68% of the cost

considering I'm on 1080p and the games I'm playing I feel the 1070 was better money spent.

Yes i think the 1070 is perfect for 1080p and obtaining 60fps+.

Looking forward to getting my amp extreme 1070 tomorrow :D
