Hi all,

I have a Zotac GTX970 Dual fan model - https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/gtx-970

The fan closest to the display ports started grinding like the ball bearings have gone.

Are fans in these things easy to replace and if so what fan would I need?
If not, can anyone recommend an new cooler for it?

It's annoying the hell out of me but i'd rather not spend a lot on it, i'd look to upgrade if it that was the case :P

Thanks for your help.

mate you can buy a fan from aliexpress, you can pick them up for about 10 to 15 quid, its like a chinese ebay, you pay them and the seller gets the funds once you provide good feedback.

I snapped my 980ti strix fans through bad handling and I emailed asus who refused to help me saying it was negligence I said i would pay for the part but the replied they do not provide parts to customers.

So i purchased 2 separate fans from ali express for 15 quid, they also sell whole original coolers to for 70 quid, and its so easy to fix on, undo the screws that holds the fan in place after removing the cooler, replace the fans and just reconnect and re-assemble the GPU, i completed mine in 30 mins and it worked perfectly, then I sold it after a few months to get the 1080!¬

Can you unplug the front fan from the board and just try running it with one fan or is it wired in with the second fan?
It makes sense to give this a go, I'm sure it can be unplugged and that would stop the sound annoying me. Luckily the fan which is working is right above the GPU.

I have a similar card and am needing to replace a fan.

As yours is not physically damaged you could just try re-lubricating the bearing (they are sleeve no ball bearings). ideally some grease or light machine oil.

Just lift the sticker, lube the bearing and then it is important to reseal with the sticker or tape to keep the oil/grease in.

If you fancy replacing the fan completely google:
