My first fiddle with Zotac Z68 in a SG06 with 2600K and Intel 510...

before the GPU goes in, it looks like the case is far too big..

I can't say I like the case very much. The front air intake seems a bit choked, maybe I should have chosen a SG05. I had a 140MM PWM fan lying around I put in to see if I could improve the noise and cooling.

I really want a smaller case just for a SDD, GPU and mobo, but the PSU is limiting my ideas. I am thinking of trying a Pico with a modified 203W XBOX brick.

The Zotac overclocking is pretty limited but 4.4Ghz isnt bad. I am not convinced the Shuriken is any better than the stock cooler. I will test it sometime.

I think the 5770 will have to do until 7xxx series appear hopefully with a smaller power draw.

Was thinking to build a new itx system with the sg06 or sg05 case with z68 itx board but now looking at a new shuttle SH67H3 or SH67H7 the price difference is not much more for the shuttle but you cant overclock it.
Nice pics keep us updated what you plan to do next i will not be buying anything till november.

I couldnt resist the extra performance of 4.4Ghz, so I had to have the first Z 68 available .

I am really hoping there will be a decent 7*** half height card so I can get a nice Wesena case ...

I did start thinking of making a perspex case based on my HTPC build, but I dont have time atm, probsbly best to see what cards are available first

Hi timciren (or anyone who knows the answer),
I'm doing the exact same build (Z68 in a SG06), and I'm puzzled that the PSU does not come with a 8pin 12 V power connector PW2.
Is that not required, or do I miss some thing ?

Thanks

frank

( Noticed your new thread first ! ):p

Yes the more normal 4 pin works just fine, plugged in nearer the PCI slot

Have looked at those Wesena cases bit pricy when you add psu an adapter also a slot slim dvd drive still smart looking case though.
Would be a real waste to get i5 2500k or your 2600k an then not overclock it wish that shuttle would release a z68 range of shuttles with 500 watt psu.

a bit pricey, but nice looking and I rarely use a dvd, so I just plug a usb drive in when I do.
There was a half height powercolor 5670 and the reference 6670 was half height but neither is available anymore:mad:
