1.5 mm lift-off distance - one of the lowest on the market to date
One of the primary features of the ZOWIE EC-series is the lift-off distance. ZOWIE EC-series has made it possible to create one of the lowest lift-off distance currently available in any optical mouse on the market - 1.5 mm.
1,000Hz USB Report Rate - plug and play with 1.000Hz
Most optical mice are 125Hz which can be artificially raised to 500 – 1,000Hz through driver installations. The ZOWIE EC mice were the first optical mice to introduce 1,000 Hz from standard, without any installation of drivers.
Improved mouse wheel
The mouse use an optical encoder instead of the cheaper traditional mechanical system and added a new optimized rolling system developed by ZOWIE, which ensures that the mouse wheel is the most durable and precise mouse wheel on the market today.
DPI-adjustment
Adjusting DPI on the fly is not really an innovative feature, but ZOWIE decided to put it on the mouse anyway, as it's important for a gamer to be able to optimize the settings to create the perfect feeling when playing.

Ugh so pricey, I want it just for the style as it's just like the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3, none of the other fancy shiz :(

I use the original EC1 in white and I can honestly say it's the best mouse I've ever used and I've used them all from Logitech, Razer, MS etc!

Quick switching of DPI is not even a selling point, its a gimmick.

The peripherals market is already flooded, and companies are trying to think of inivative ideas to sell more of their £5 mice by stamping then with unknown brands and impregnating with colour changing LED's. Then trying to market it as the next best thing since sliced bread, if anything quick change of DPI will only hinder my gameplay by having another unnecessary button attached to my mouse that I have to try to avoid.

Just my thoughts

WOW

just tried an EC2

this mouse is better than a deathadder in every way. the tracking feels superb, it is responsive and comfortable to hold.

it is about the same size in the hand as a deathadder/mamba with big chunky side buttons how I like them.

I am buying one today, really impressed with the quality and feel of the Zowie peripherals, their keyboard is incredible and this mouse re-enforces this standpoint.

Nail on the head.

maybe nail on the head, but the way i see this is the mouse offers a dpi switch, the direct competition, the death adder, doesn't.

this mouse also feels responsive and comes with a spare set of mouse feet. which other manufacturers supply at between £8-£10 anyway.

Couldn't disagree more. I use it on my mx518 every day. I use low dpi for BF3 in game, high for menus, and high dpi for my desktop, so regularly switch between them. Losing dpi switching on the go is a dealbreaker for me.

Try a mouse with a DPI quick switch button like I have (Steelseries XAI) and jump on a game like BF3. Trust me, jumping into a tank and ramping up the DPI in a quarter of a second is a godsend for tank mobility. Turret moves much quicker. :)

This is the main point I like with this mouse

The dpi switch is on the bottom though to avoid you hitting it accidentally.

I knock the one on my mamba occasionally and it is really annoying. :(
