ZyXel 661 router

On box it says ZyXel P660H-61

Any good?

Just got it off mate to see if it helps connection. Pings so far seem the same. Duno line stats as duno password to access router stuff (emailed for pass).

So in general is this a good router? The box it came in looks new and looks good. Pluged it in and worked off the bat. Lol forgot to install lan drivers at first but didnt take 2 seconds and didnt need to reboot.

Mainly using this router instead of usb modem voyager 105 to see if it helps stability with my connection. As i had poor stats considering im not far from the exchange 1.5km. With (according to usb modem before) 50 att and 6 snr margin.

I've got the wireless version at home and it's been pretty impressive most of the time. Occasionally requires the odd reboot and doesn't like getting overly hot (i.e. in direct sunlight in mid summer), but then again I expect most electronics are like this ;)

My only major grumble with it is that i can't seem to get an open NAT connection on Xbox live with it - regardless of whether i enable/disable UPnP or anything else...

oh and default router p/w = 1234

Yes i have wireless too (missed the w from hw lol)

I finally got the damn router to port forward for utorrent. Took me 2 days to get this sorted and im complete noob with routers very first i am using just after 48rs play with lol.

Was a struggle but got there in the end.

Oh and erm im on firmware p4 i think (2004) since im ok at the mo i wont upgrade but if the need arrises what firmware should i get do u know.

The 660HW was a pretty crappy router - unstable under load, unstable performing QoS.
If you've got a 50dB attenuation, you're evidently nowhere near 1.5km from the exchange and nearer 5km (or you've got a load of dodgy joints or a line that consists mostly of aluminium).
