It's easy to sell the R290X has impeccable performance, but we haven't seen the best it can offer since it's hobbled by its stock cooler.
The R290 could be very nice.

Well lets look at performance per pound.
Use Titan as 100% @ £800, so £8 per 1%
With the 290x just matching performance, you are looking at 100% for £430, so £4.30 per 1%.
So it is twice as cost-effective as Titan. SLAIN!
You owe me a virtual Pint
Indeed it depends on each own users definition of slain. To get titan performance for half the price, I'd too count that as slain.
nvidia have already milked in TITAN sales for 9 months, surprising just how many here on this forum bought one. They're killing TITAN off on their own accord anyway with the 780ti, they already did so slightly with the 780.
It would be a real shame if AMD forced Nvidia to kill off the Titan replacing it with a lesser GPU
How is the 290X anything but disappointing at £450+?
You seem to be in the minority with that opinion.
How is it disappointing, the hell were you expecting?

320w total system power, so yes ^^^^ its fine.
He's best ignored at the moment
So has there been any info on the 290? Can we make an estimate as to where its performance will be based on the 290x benchmarks?
I'm itching to upgrade
It loses to the 780 / Titan when overclocked, both of which have been around for a while. It runs hotter, uses more power, has ridiculous temps. Since when was 95c ok?
95C !! Wow.
The price is on par with the 780, except the 780 runs cooler and quieter, uses less power, faster when overclocked.
I don't understand anyone buying this over a 780 unless you're die hard AMD fan.

PS: where are those 13.11 B5 Drivers Anand had listed?
Hadn't realised the temperature of the card was locked at 95c at all times, dayum, what a feature.
That's not correct at all. In quiet mode Gibbo said the card operates around 85-90c and throttles if it goes over 95c. This will be with fan speed at 45%.

Yeah let's ignore the sane comments Because you know I'm right and have nothing to counter with more like.
95C ! and over 400 watts. Yeah great card.
Hope you guys have LN2 on standby, you will need it for overclocking.
