Be careful, I swapped my 850w Corsair for a 1200w Superflower that I had in my other system.... Coil whine was just as bad.

I'd stay away from Corsair. Get yourself a Super Flower or an EVGA. They have 5 and 10 years warranty respectively and are the best PSUs you can buy.

I personally decided to suck the noise up until I did my new build, which was meant to be this weekend but OcUK sent me the wrong PSU, so I have to wait until later next week



In my case - I had a 7970 - It was fine. I had a GTX 970 - It was fine. I had a GTX 980 - It was fine. I got a 980Ti - It started... I never assumed it wouldn't be the GPU as the other 2 I had within a 30 day period were fine. It's a valid assumption in my opinion.

i been reading quite a few reviews on the HXi Series HX1000i , its one of the quietest which is important to me, my pc is near silent thats why the coil whining is more annoing and few even posted saying there coil whine has gone , its got 7 years warranty i guess i can RMA it if i still get coil whine

I used to run a 690 when they 1st came out with a Corsair TX950, then added another for good measure and it whined like a bitch.

It ran silent with only one.

Not even sure it will be able to handle it.. They are using a 960 atm and that's fine but is very low power. Really don't want to change their PSU..

can i join the club , think i got a great card, was gonna RMA it for coil whine, but its the PSU , easily clocked it to boost 1500mhz / 7800mhz memory and fans aint loud either

Wasn't having a dig, just saying that the GPU seems to blamed in most cases without proper testing.

As in your case your - you had a different PSU to try, most don't - so can't test for it.

Not a Psu i'd attempt to run a 980Ti off even a good quality one.

Most high end PSUs have an eco mode (where the fans don't spin until over X% load/they hit X degrees), if that's what you mean? OC3D.net did a review of the 1200W Leadex a while back, it's here:

No way. The G1 Gaming recommends 600W I think... But I personally wouldn't do 600W if any sort of overclocking is involved.

Nope, I've seen 450w drawn at the wall with an overclocked 4790k and a stock 980ti. 1ssd, 1hdd and 9 case fans. Obviously a stock cpu will use a bit less, but I still wouldn't want to run such a setup on such a low wattage unit.

Really don't want to have to change their PSU as well. Just ends up costing more and more. Think I'll pass this REF 980 Ti on, to the MM. Will get boys something new lower power next year when there is a die shrink. The next X60 or something.

Well I wasn't suggesting you should buy the 1200W - Just he didn't review the lower wattage models but it should give you an idea of what to expect with a SF power supply.
