If only. 4 of them shared the same place and they invited us all back but only I went. I left with a fully intact wallet. The taxi driver didn't charge as he was just pleased to get away from that area of Sydney and he liked my recap of the previous night.
I found out that:
Slim and Dancing Pete ran out on their taxi driver where we were staying before we moved back to the hostel.
Lanky suffered a broken nose and severely dented pride. Kinda deserved IMO due to his actions the previous few weeks.
Ginger got the bus home alone. After attending another "Massage Parlour". Or so he said.

egypt -the hotel was fantastic but the second you walk out the hotel doors you see what a complete hell hole the place is, the locals are all leches and 50/50 chance they are gonna try to sell you something or behead you.

took a day trip to some bedwin camp, had to be escorted by armed guard. Passed thru checkpoint consisting of tanks and soldiers and the bus was boarded and had someone with an AK47 demanding that we show out passports. will never ever ever go back again, rhyl all the way next time

and secondly earlier this year booked a quite nice/expensive lodge at Centreparcs in elvedon forest private Jacuzzi, lake side etc etc turned up Monday walked around the place had some lunch and spent the rest of the week in bed with food poisoning. missus and daughter were fine so litterally spent a 4 days on my own in a cabin as wanted them to still try to have fun. would rather go thru this again than ever go to egypt again tho

I'm starting to piece this together: Ginger went to massage behind some parlour (because he'd been skint and didn't want to clean up after other people again, of course); Lanky stumbled upon him in the act, his pride was severely dented and they'd fought over the prime location; Ginger emerged victorious, Lanky ran away with a broken nose and his shrivelled pride; the former was eventually arrested and 'bussed' home for indecent exposure and assault.

Yes. It's all coming together now. :p

Anywhere north of Stoke where they have funny accents and can't speak proper England* counts for me. Complete no-go.

Expect a call from Yorkshire Dons. :D

*Also heed the underlined bit.

I was abducted in a Turkish bazaar when I was 8. Another holidaymaker from our group spotted me being carried off by a couple of men and interjected. My parents didn't realise until I was long gone. That could have ended up being a pretty bad holiday.

Some years ago my family and I visited relatives on Christmas. We stayed at a hotel and all of us came down with the stomach flu. Well, once we were slowly starting to feel better, we went down to the pool to eat something, and the kids wanted to go swimming. We got in the elevator and on the way up, it stopped. Let me remind you that we were all on the tail end of the stomach flu. And yes, we were stuck in the elevator, on Christmas Day, for over an hour — me and two kids. The elevator repair man got lost, then couldn't come because it was a holiday. Finally, the fire department came and broke us out of the elevator. Luckily, none of us had to puke.

The free gift on the fourth day of the all expenses paid holiday to Maui was some Maui Jim sunglasses. I rarely get to wear them as they aren't prescription & contacts make my eyes itch :(

That or my (then) girlfriend and me getting horrendous food poisoning in Siem Reap right after buying a 3 day ticket to Angkor Wat. Instead of spending time exploring the world heritage site we got to argue over whose turn it was to get on the bog for three days while the antibiotics took effect.

Take your pick :p

- Mugged, beaten and hospitalized in Vietnam
- Dysentery in India
- Waking up to find a guy trying to sexually assault the girl I was travelling with in Morocco
- Coming across a guy in bed with a child in Cambodia
- Being quarantined in Beijing airport for my temperature
- Bedbugs in general need to die.

Plenty of others. No real horrible actual journeys though, except doing 12 hours standing on a train in China, and Ryanair canceling ou flight back from Nimes once, when we then walked back to town and slept on the floor of a classroom in a school as we were broke :p

just an overnight stay in San Antonio, Texas for me

left it too late to get a decent room so booked a crappy motel..it was straight out of a CSI program

open deck access, all round a small pool, people sitting outside on the decks as its obviously where they live permanently

we fully expected to walk into the room and find the tape outline of the previous occupant on the floor!

thankfully it was only 1 night and they hyatt the next night in Austin more than made up for it! huge rooms, sumptious beds and lovely views over the water and right next to the amazing bat colony

When it comes to renew your Passport... Don't.

They are pretty bad things. Can I just ask how you were hospitalised in Nam as those people are only 7st. :D

I think I'd have to say when me and my partner booked Center Parcs for my birthday this year.

We decided to book the Sherwood Forest place as my partner quite enjoys the wildlife there e.g. Ducks tapping on your window etc...

Anyway, first appearances seem OK, little dated but nothing too bad...until you looked into some finer details.

Parts of the woodland mural wall paper had been ripped off and just been coloured in with black felt tip pen and in other places just sellotaped back down.

We had paid for one of the more "premier" lodges, however there was very little which was premier about it.

However, I think the worst discovery was this;

Overall, I think all the lodges in that place need updating as they look a bit tired and worn.

:p Well I've lived in Taiwan for 4 years now, without any disasters. Yet. Still 5 years on this passport though, so plenty of time.

They're not the biggest guys, true, but when they hit you round the head from behind with a bat/pipe/I don't know what it was, then kick you in the ribs for a while when you're floored, size is less important. It was a sort of reverse mugging, in my mind it should be "give me your stuff or I'll hit you", not "I'm going to beat you up then take your stuff".
