I think he just read the first few results on TPU and then jumped the gun on his conclusion and not reading on.

Yup, would seem that way, although I suppose he is technically correct about saying it matches the 470 in some games at 1080p, 3 out of 18 games tested isn't exactly a good measure of the overall performance though. :D

Its a nice card, but just too expensive for what it offers unfortunately, much like most of the cards in this new 14/16nm first generation and that is without taking the whole pound crashing to earth debacle.

Waiting to see what the £99.99 GTX1050 model is as expected the price gouging is present at launch

Why would you expect under £100 ?

USA price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...4500412&cm_re=gtx_1050-_-14-500-412-_-Product

$110 / 1.20 = £91.66 +tax/shipping.

Absolute lowest you could expect would be around £110 with VAT for cheapest model and I don't see anyone wanting to make so little margin on a product so new with such low availability. Maybe we will get to £110 in the near future or not, really depends what the pound does strength wise.

Because your own OCUK BLOG on the main page clearly states "Nvidia's latest cards will have a starting price of £99.99 & £139.99 respectively." ;)

I have to agree with some of the augments about price for what Nvidia are offering here but at this level of Gpu performance AMD have always been the better option.
Maybe if you ask Gibbo nicely he maybe able to hit the £100 mark for black Friday. ;)
