Just a post to say, if anyone else with a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 and a i7 920 CPU is wanting to install more memory than the maximum supported 24GB, then they can. Just installed 6x 8GB modules for a total of 48GB. :)

Hooray, some one else who like ram drives.:), seem to be out of favour which is a shame.

I thought I was the only one who used them.;)

For the majority of people RAM drives are well into chocolate teapot territory. What use are they beyond providing really fast scratch drives?

I’d also want to have ECC if I was running with large memory sizes and trying to do anything of importance.

I've tried IMdisk (free ramdisk software) and it didn't make a VM running off it any (noticeably) faster than running off my Intel SSD. Did make some very nice benchmarks though.
