What a bloody tease, like i said in the other thread they must have a better cooler if they want to add more on an already power hungry card, unless their 'contingency' also comes with a more efficient architecture.

Kap mod your cards to stop black screen benching. So much fun man. I am gonna go after so many records starting in a week or so now all my Lightnings are modded.
They could leave the cooling to the AIB partners.

DC2, Lightning, Matrix, Tri X etc etc coolers will be fine.
This should be interesting to see how the cards go with the better memory the lightnings have.

I have noticed that multi GPU 290Xs seem to go really well on 3dmark vantage.
Meh, they all seem to opt for triple fan designs that keep the heat inside the case, would much prefer something along the lines of a blower design without the insane racket.

I think they are clustered in texture units, 176, so divide that by 2816 = 16

If we look at it this way.
290P: 2560 + 10% = 2816 (290X)
290X + 10% = 3089.6
Or, probably the way it should be worked out, 2560 + 20% = 3072
They seem to work around 256
10 x 256 = 2560 (290P)
11 x 256 = 2816 (290X)
12 x 256 = 3072 (290?)

Didn't think it would be much of a boost, still it could be worthwhile if they come with new coolers and a cooler running temperature, seems a lot of people are put off by the heat they can generate.

In theory a 290X is 10% faster than a 290P, in practice as they don't overclock as well so it is about 7%. So yes about another 7% on top of a 290X.

Typical Nvidia AMD, releasing the high-mid range part as the high end part and then releasing the proper high end part later... pfft bloody Nvidia AMD!
