Lol.
What a bloody tease, like i said in the other thread they must have a better cooler if they want to add more on an already power hungry card, unless their 'contingency' also comes with a more efficient architecture.

Kap mod your cards to stop black screen benching. So much fun man. I am gonna go after so many records starting in a week or so now all my Lightnings are modded.

This should be interesting to see how the cards go with the better memory the lightnings have.

Good luck with the records.

I have noticed that multi GPU 290Xs seem to go really well on 3dmark vantage.

How many cores in each cluster on the Hawaii chips, it would only be one or two more clusters surely?

I think they are clustered in texture units, 176, so divide that by 2816 = 16

Not much use ^^^

If we look at it this way.

290P: 2560 + 10% = 2816 (290X)

290X + 10% = 3089.6

Or, probably the way it should be worked out, 2560 + 20% = 3072

There were claims the die shot for Hawaii XT showed 3072 SP no idea if its right or not.

TBH all the news of late just makes me happier about my decision to buy the 780 GHZ heh.

They seem to work around 256

10 x 256 = 2560 (290P)

11 x 256 = 2816 (290X)

12 x 256 = 3072 (290?)

290XT :)

Those numbers make sense to me too, so clock for clock we would be looking at between 5 and 10% faster, about 7% on avrage

Didn't think it would be much of a boost, still it could be worthwhile if they come with new coolers and a cooler running temperature, seems a lot of people are put off by the heat they can generate.

ahhh i wanna know more....
you know what i have an idea, who's with me to start a kickstarter to fund an account for 8pack law suit, then he can break the NDA and satisfy my curiosity
one thing for sure they will change the reference cooler, they said that r9 290x error was the last.
then you have the HBM rumour, and btw this new hawai is TSMC or GlobalF ?
