Question: once the ccc limits are lifted, is there a way to revert them back to default?

I was under the impression that the /xcl only impacted on the software, yet as far as I can remember and see regardless of format etc the ccc appears the same??

Can anyone explain? Sorry for noob question :/

Yes, instead of /xcl use /rcl. :)

I flashed the Vapor X to 7970 Bios 1100 - 1450 (Sapphire)

Then I OCed to 1100 -1600 stable at 1.056 Volts

Unigine *8 *16 Extreme Tess

1224 (48.6 av - 26.1 low - 119.9 high)

An Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 2GB @ 1006 - 6008 scores 46.6 @ 1080 same settings (I presume @ stock).

3D Mark

GRAPHICS SCORE
8626

Not too bad... and total stable without a voltage increase.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Toxic 6GB Lethal Boost is rated at 8421 (I guess its not clocked!!!). I'm happy with the card now.

It really needs the new bios.

It runs @ 76 degrees under load.

I'll be buying a waterblock for it before I volt it up.

Can you put up a link to that bios? Is it fairly straightforward to flash the bios? Not attempted that before. Sounds worth it for a stable 1100/1600 oc

Also a bit of an aside but have you given virtu MVP a go? Gave me a good boost and helped with tearing in battlefield 3 when vsync is disabled

I have a problem, this has happened twice now,

When ever I set an overclock and go into a game, after a while the screen goes black and my voltage in MSI afterburner resets back to stock. Whats the reason for this? unstable?

what are you raising the voltage to?
Sounds like unstable/voltage too high

flashed mine to the 7970 bios as DRHF mentioned.
Much more stable overclocks :D

What overclocks do you get off stock voltage? I'd love to get over 1100 on the GPU, but it doesn't like to go higher.

Oh, I also found out that the Vapor X cooler isn't very good... @ 1.100 volts (1.8x in hwInfo 64) it registers 81 Degrees under load...

I really think it could reach 1300 easy with a proper cooler.

I nearly forgot.

Make sure you use trixx not Afterburner for the overclock. I had a strange error yesterday with afterburner (I only use it for video recording), Trixx and CCC. Trixx will automatically over-ride CCC but afterburner doesn't for some reason since I switched the Bios.

It may just be an eccentricity on my machine though.

I got up to the same as you 1100/1600 on 1.056
Raised voltage to 1.118 and was able to push the core clock to 1150 but there was a few artifacts here and there. Temp never went over 69 though running unigine. Got bored of watching unigine and had to sleep in the end though so experiments ended there.

Been using Trixx anyway, wasnt having as much success with afterburner (not saving profiles etc)

do you have to use the beta drivers to get this afterburner sloution to work? or can you use 12.8?

Use 12.8, all you need to do is what you see in the attached pic.
