'It could only happen in America'

Did the founding fathers have a greater sense of morality and vision when they created the US of A, or did they just pick the best parts and try and create some kind of paradise that is now fallen apart as a result of poverty , crime, unhealthiness and corruption.

I can't really fault the US overall. They do have higher overall crime rates and bigger prison populations and worse health i believe, overall, but they have created city after city of amazing engineering and technology. They are world leaders in everything, from art to science to military equipment. Maybe we should have a look and learn. I think in Britain we have a tendency to downgrade the US, probably as we see them as stealing British land, but in reality they have become the dominant force in world Science, engineering, human rights, justice etc etc...

Just throwing in this topic.

Have you ever even been to the US?! Good god. It is a country where if you are not relatively well off, with a car and with private health insurance you are utterly worthless and neglected by society.

The US left wing makes David Cameron look like Lenin it is so right of our system.

The US is a country which is in real danger of spiralling downward as other economies emerge to dominance.

I say this liking the US, seeing its foibles, I have lived there for a significant chunk of my life and I visit often (in fact I got back yesterday from Florida).

I am very glad to be a part of British society.

Good story, tell us more. But how come they are so powerful, how come the generate so many brilliant minds and so much brilliant technology?

They have extreme right and left wings as you say, but yet as I said they still produce they best in everything?

we are pretty much one of the top countries for specialist areas

Do you know where their technology came from originally. I don't, maybe the USA, I wouldn't be surprised.

Have you looked at the scientific record of the UK? Its second to none. Only the population of the USA, and the number of highly qualified refugees during WWII make it stand out so.

Are you saying the USA are a bunch of dum dums that have stolen others' ideas and built colossal cities, infrastructures, managed 100's of millions of people and created the most powerful country economically, scientifically, socially wise. not to forget their movies, TV, Art and everything else.
