I would have thought you could get it done for half that.
It’s a first gen R8 V8 manual. 75000 , one owner, FSH with all receipts from new, never seen so much paper.
Wasn’t really looking for it but it’s became available at a price which seems reasonable (circa £30k) but I think I could push that down a little

Thanks. It's on a car I was looking at which had advisories on the magride, apparently three were misted. The dealer was saying it would be about £3k to replace all four. I've not looked into it at all at this stage but might get an acquaintance who has a garage to give it a look over for me.
I'd doudble check that. On the R8 it looks like... £1500 a corner for new ones, just the part.
Even refurbed they're 800+ Euros a corner, by the time you add fitting in you're way past £3k.

I've recently had my S4 done, same part numbers as A4 by the way... they're £500 a corner for Audi parts and around £300 for SACHS parts. That's without fitting which will add up to a fair few hours of labour. (rears are a doddle on the a4, fronts... are not).

Thanks, going out with a mechanic to see it again next week. Spent a fair bit of time on youtube looking at owner feedback as well. There's a few things I'd need to be confident about before taking it any further.

So the beast needs its first service and for some reason, all of my local Audi dealers are booked up so the first appointment I could make is a few weeks away.
The car will have crossed 30,000km by this point, potential by a few hundred km. However, as I know a few thousand miles were done on electric, it's on LL Service and I've only had it 13 months, I'm not massively concerned.

Anyway, will crossing this number have any affect on warranty, etc? I highly doubt it, but does anyone have any experience with this? I've normally been good with booking cars in for service; I've never had 6 weeks' wait before though, and I tried 5 dealerships when I booked it the other week!

Hi i have a audi a3 plate 16 and noticed what looks like a oil leak a week ago.

I did check my oil levels under the hood and diddnt see it low...

My dashboard doesn't indicate oil levels are low.

Any advice?

I've booked my car in the garage but I have to wait another week...

Audi garage is fully booked

Facelift (2020+) RS4. Is it worth an upgrade from a (2017) S4?

Had my S4 Avant (B9) since early 2020 and I'm starting to get the inevitable calls from Audi asking if I'd like to swap into something newer/different. The S4 has been a great car over the last 3 years, and I would have likely considered moving to the facelift S4 but the fact it's diesel just makes me sad :( Diesel would also be the worst choice of car for my annual mileage. Realistically if I wanted to stick with Audi the only choice I have now to stick with a petrol performance estate is the RS4 for RS6 (I see what you did there Audi! lol well played). I've always liked the RS6 but the current model is definitely a bit to aggressive looking for me as I get older, plus I'm not sure I want to stomach the cost. I do really like the look of the RS4 but certainly back in 2020 when I took the S4, wasn't sure it was worth the extra money over the S4 at the time. The facelift definitely appeals to me with the few minor upgrades and changes I've seen in review (yet to see one in person).

Guess I'm looking to hear from owners of the RS4 to find out why they picked it over the S4? Also has anyone come from the pre-facelift RS4 to the facelift RS4?

No you'd be bonkers IMO

Yes it'll be a quicker car, but I would say the RS4 is too quick to enjoy to the same extent, unless you're well tuned to things like steering feel/LSD.

Exhaust note will be hampered by the filters in place too.

Furthermore, the cabin will be largely identical, other than the touchscreen only MMI.

I reckon for the first week, maybe month, you'll go "cool, new stuff", then slowly realise you're paying (a lot) more for pretty much the same.

What are your thoughts?

I think you guys are both right here. I do like the look of the facelift and I hear they've got better at the laggy throttle response the B9 is plagued with which just annoys me day-to-day, but would be good to see for my self on that one. Other than that it is fundamentally the same car as far as I can see bar some very minor changes. Maybe it's more just lack of choice in the Audi camp that's making me question this? Unless I wait for the next S4/RS4 (and for them to become a few years old) I don't really have an upgrade path for something newer and a bit more substantially different unless I switch marques. I haven't been to discuss anything with anyone at Audi but I know my S4 likely has a good chunk of equity in it because I bought it literally just before lockdown at more sane prices than today, so there is that going for me if I wanted to get into something a little newer.

For the laggy throttle response, try resetting the TCU.

1) Ignition, but not engine, on. Wait for all messages/lights to go out.
2) Push accelerator all the way in till it clicks and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
3) Turn key back to off position (ignition off) while holding down accelerator
4) Lift foot off of the accelerator
5) Sit inside for about 2 to 3 minutes till it resets while the key is still in the off position
6) Turn on engine

For anyone else reading - this works in most cars with the ZF 8 speed/other torque converters. I think it works for dual clutches in VAG cars too.

Even if you sold your S4 now and bought something used, you're going to have to put in about 15k on top of what your car is worth.

Just had the first (30,000km) service on the Q7. It's the 3.0 TFSIe, and they didn't replace the massive air filter which sits on top of the engine.
They said it's not part of the service, and only replaced the oil filter, etc. Can this really be true? They didn't charge me for it, so it's not like they're lying.

Is it worth replacing myself anyway, or just live with it for another year or two until the next service?

Not sure if that will help much as the S4's z8 is laggy even from new. Also same for many dual clutch dsg Audi's.They have a reputation for it..

So just had my RS4 in for it's MOT/ Service and they've advised me next year the disks and pads are going to need doing.

They have told me to expect it to cost around...£6k.

This seems...on the high side.

Does anyone know where I could get this work done for...something a bit more reasonable?

Near Croydon, so would like somewhere relatively local to look at getting this done in a years time.
I know I have a year to adjust to get used to the idea, but is it worth shopping around?

Thanks in advance. I know bills on a performance car like this are going to be higher but still...

It's not a particularly difficult or specialist job...a trusted local independent would be more than up to the task. Mine even let's me supply parts myself.

However I can appreciate you might want a specialist for history purposes on an RS4...
