B650 Vs X670 for 7900X

Hi, I need some advice. I am looking to upgrade my i7-9700k as I am having issues with my board and want to upgrade. Been out of the AMD scene for over 10 years but I fancy building a 7900x system as I would use it for gaming with a 3070 and also stuff like some Photoshop and some video editing, but not professionally.

Which board would be best to couple with it, a B650 or X670? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

b650 is fine unless you need a lot of pcie lanes/usb/sata (most people wont)

X670 boards often have 4x M.2 slots and B650 only 2x or 3x, that's the main difference you're likely to notice.

X670E & B650E have PCI-E 5.0 graphics.

Any of them can have a PCI-E 5.0 M.2 slot, but it is somewhat rarer with B650.

I'd look at the TUF B650-Plus if you don't care about PCI-E 5.0 graphics and 3x M.2 slots is fine, or Strix B650E-F if you want PCI-E 5.0 graphics.

FYI: if you're looking at boards with fewer M.2 slots, don't buy one of these
