Could you explain to me exactly how in any way shape of form it fits the description of "cool"? How anything about this could be remotely considered as "cool"? The only people who could see anything "cool" about anything here are sociopaths who get off on warporn.

I think he meant it more as a "Cool, the internet detectives may have helped catch the bomber"

Unbunch your knickers.

Are you incapable of reading? Obviously so. As already pointed out that last part is needed and unwarranted. I pointed out I felt it to be an inappropriate usage of the word.

I am sure all the internet detectives can high-5 away if they correctly identified one of the perpetrators - alternatively they can just keep quiet and slink away in under their pseudonyms if they are wrong and some poor blokes life got ruined.

Someone on the radio earlier from the US was saying it could take them a while to get through all the evidence they have. By that he meant everyone pretty much has a phone with a camera, it was televised, cctv, pictures from people at event. All has to be checked thoroughly and could take time.

My question is in such an event do you think if they collected together everything they had and posted them up on a domain for people to view then the 'internet' could help? Not quite on the same level but some of the detective work on here is impressive at times and if you through enough people at something they can surely help spot something that maybe be missed. Huge amount of people on 4chan/reddit/something awful etc.. all these resources pooled could help make the work much easier.

Of course, I have always felt the most appropriate reaction to any crime or tragedy is a witchhunt carried out by people with inadequate training or with any thought whatsoever for the consequences of their actions. What exactly happens when such people prejudice evidence and trials of guilty parties?

The Associated Press ‏@AP 31s

BREAKING: Law enforcement official: Boston Marathon bomb suspect in custody, expected in federal court.

They wouldn't announce this now at risk of making a mistake with the suspect surely?

That's already pretty much happened.

ya these pics got me wondering - for an event where you are watching - its not like you have a coat rack for your bags etc ... wondering where they are.

The way he's standing suggests he might have the bag down by his legs and be holding onto the straps, as he's in a crowded area and swinging a backpack around every time you look a different direction can be a pain in the arse to people around you.

I certainly take my backpack off in crowded areas, I don't think those pictures show anything. You could find hundreds of suspicious things like that by trawling through pictures and choosing specific images of random people.

CNN are saying that this person is being treated as highly suspect by the FBI and authorities. Deb Feyerick reporting says that the photographer who took these pictures to make the gif below has been spoken to by authorities about him and what he seen, how he moved etc

No confirmation if this person is the suspect that's been taken into custody. There's a press conference to happen at 5PM local time, it's 2PM there now.

BBC reporting that there will be a press conference about the arrest at 22:00. I do hope that they have a perpetrator.

Apparently there was meant to be at 1PM but got changed to 5PM.

hahaa the woman on CNN just said "the leaks.. err.. the reports coming out, we're bound to hear more in the next hour, hour and a half". :D

I think you need to step away from the thread and settle down. The way I read the post is that absolutely no disrespect was meant and for me, none has been caused.
