Buying clothes, sizing, general rant why does it have to be so difficult

Many, many years ago I used to work at a clothing manufacturer and if they were a few short of a certain size to fill an order the bosses would just get the line to change the size labels on other sizes to complete it

But yea, irrespective of that level of duplicity, variability between sizes in different stores is a pita.

I'm not even sure what chinos are.

I went to splash out on a super dry jacket once, but left the shop in disgust realising I’d need a XXXL.

Went to a North Face shop - got a Large. :D

My Alpinestars leather motorbike jacket is an XXXL and it a tight fit  and one of my other motorbike jackets is a M

Am 34" waist and 12 stone (5ft 8")

I find Gloves are a real nightmare to find ones that fit properly

Jesus ******* christ, I fully expected some rant about the maid outfit that took 6 weeks shipping from China to be sized for a pineapple with legs, but no.

Just go to a shop like Gap or River Island and buy some tech bro stuff. its not that ******* complicated.

buy two sizes and return the size that does not fit, job done
I have to try everything on as well as it's a toss up between Medium and Large for me.
One of the reason why I end up still shopping in person most of the time as I don't want to faf about returning items. (even though going to the actual shop is more effort in the end. :p )

I have the same experience with Next. I wish their stuff fit but it just doesn't. If you can get away with no button pockets the "5 pocket trousers" which are actually chinos from Matalan are surprisingly not terrible. Your mileage may vary depending on expectations but they're all I buy now.

I'm currently replacing my wardrobe as I'm now a 32" waist and a medium in clothes, down from a 40" waist and XL (occasionally 2XL) a couple of years ago. The difference between some clothes is weird, one medium t-shirt will fit fine yet another will be a bit looser.

Did you reply to the same thread I read because this reads like a SNL: Stefon fever dream and I am READY for it!

The ladies leggings are nicer colours and more variety of weather suitability.

I like they colours that are usually allocated to women unfortunately. Shame that colour is gendered.

Sometimes i can't get away with it (women's fit). But often My shoulders are too broad so the bottom is too "loose" in an xl but other brands are fine.

I'm back to being more of a chunky monkey in middle age but it was always great fun trying to find any tops/jackets/suits to fit when the drop between my chest and waist was 12ish inches compared to the general standard 7 inches

It's a minefield.

Even shoe sizes that are supposed to be the same can differ noticeably between makes.

Don't get me started on trousers that seem to designed for people with no muscle on their calves or thighs.
Or with ladies’ tops, no consideration for those with muscular arms. Lost count in the number of returns I have done because the sleeves are too tight. It’s lifting totes of 18 kg of bananas and 22kg totes of spuds that creates muscle
