Could anyone with this monitor do a quick test for me please. Go here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529.aspx and move the mouse up and down or side to side in the grey part of the screen. Please tell me if you see a noticeable inverse ghosting of the cursor.

Thanks

Yup I see it when I move the cursor very slowly - probably why I hadn't seen it before.

The only other thing I've noticed is a very slight banding effect at the very bottom of the screen with a light coloured background.

Personally I still wouldn't return it based on these things but obviously YMMV so if it really bugs you or affects your work then it's understandable if you do return it. 1100 quid is a lot of dosh after all.

My 3011 doesn't do anything like this.

Personally for the money paid for this type of screen, this should be classified as a fault, and the hassle you will have to go through to get it exchanged etc (ie how much does it bug you)

It may be a driver problem or something ......

Your issue sounds similar to the below which IS happening to me currently - but this only started happening after I recently reinstalled Win7.

When posting in here, on the "Save Changes" /"Preview Changes" buttons these turn light blue when hovered over them where they never did before.
Reply /Create/ trust/edit /quote/ New post buttons don't change colour at all. Just in case this is any help :)

Just bought one of these from Overclockers on there weekly promotion + 3% Quidco. :)
Cannot wait... But Monday is so far off now.

PS: Gibbo? What cables are supplied with the Monitor, doesn't state on your webpage at all (Dual Link DVI, HDMI, Displayport?)

EDIT: Found the following information in the review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u3014.htm
- DVI and DisplayPort > Mini DisplayPort cables and factory calibration report

Just so we know.
The Dell arrived on Monday, so was wonderful quick delivery to Ireland.
Thanks again Overclockers Team. :)

It's amazing monitor, massive in size + pixel count an colors are strong an vibrant, just what I expected.
It's not a gaming monitor, which is what I use it for, especially in bright scene's you can notice the Pre-ghosting affect; But it's not a deal breaker.

Baddass: I have noticed when powering my model on/off there is the distinctive crackle from the PSU, was/is this normal on this monitor?
I am thinking not; hence why I am asking?

Best starting saving for 2 more. :D

i noticed the same slight crackle actually as well when powering on/off, but don't think it's anything significant or anything to worry about

Just a random thought.
But can these moniters be overclocked?

Obvious limitations been the Display Port or Dual Link DVI almost at the maximum bandwidth limit.
Especially at 2560x1600 @60hz.
So pushing it to 70-90hz might not be possible, even if the pizels could be forcibly refreshed quicker.

Any thoughts?

How does the text size on these monitors compare to a 2560x1400 27" model. I'd contemplated buying a Dell U2713 but was worried the text size might be on the small side without seeing it first.

How does the u3014 look at the default windows 7/8 text size. Would it be roughly the same as a 24" 1920x1080 monitor?

People already run 2560x1440p at 120hz via dual link dvi cables so i think is would be possible yes.You might need a better quality cable though.120hz has talk of awc or aw8 cables i think its the gauge or something you look for i cant quite remember now.

But yea i would guess you might scrape 75hz out of one of these.Dont people get 75hz from the 1440p dell displays now too?

I thought I would bump this thread after living with the monitor for a couple of months.

I hardly even notice the overdrive issues these days, I guess I just tune it out now and only see it when I go looking for it. I'm pretty happy with the display now, a much more vibrant picture than the 3008 and it doesn't heat my room up either.
