So i have a 50"" TCL QM8B TV that I'm using as a extended display on Windows 11. I have set the res of this TCL TV to 1440p via System>Display option in windows. When the TCL displays the windows 11 desktop pressing the info button on the remote reports that the display res is indeed 2560x1440 but when i load a game, in this case Helldivers 2, the TV reports that the res is 3840x2160!!!. I have the res in Helldrivers 2 set to 2560x1440 and set the display to number 2 (so the game displays on my TCL when loading automattically).

I have noticed in Setting>Display>Advanced display that the info for the TCL reports...

Desktop mode: 2560x1440, 120Hz
Active signal mode: 840x2160, 120Hz

Any ideas why the active signal is 4K when ive selected a 1440p res for this display and why it display at 1440p on windows but when a game is loaded it switches to 4k??

No idea what equivalent amd features are called
Though they likely have similar sort of things

Yeah as jrs said
Try render scale it's only option there
That doesn't sound to do with performance or quality possibly

Could also look in nvidia control panel
Is dsr in there can't remember
It's a bit confusing with the new app being installed
At same time as nvidia control panel
Definitely seems some sort of upscaling would be most likely

Thanks for the replies.

DSR is off in NVCP
What should the Render scale be set too (if theres no 'off' setting) to stop upscaling?

EDIT:

Ok so there is no option to disabling render scale setting to ultra performance or ultra super sample doesnt change the res the TV reports at all still at 4K!!.

BUT, if i change the Display mode in the game settings from 'Fullscreen' to 'Borderless Window' then the TV does report a 1440p res. Is there a downside to having borderless window mode over fullscreen??

As far as I am aware borderless window mode
Allows using mouse to do stuff
Fullscreen you need to hit something like windows key,
Ctrl+alt+del or alt+tab etc to be able to do something on pc
Without exiting the game
That's the way I use it anyway

turned pc on now to have a look
i guess its game dependant
since your picture has options i dont have
i have render scale off
but in another game dont even have render scale option
but do have render resolution option instead

in the nvidia app
did you also check the global settings tab?
as i do have DSR in there perhaps enabled globally
would over ride individual program settings

also the softwares new so could be some sort of glitch i guess

edit
also what version number is your nvidia app?

Yeah DSR Factor is turned off in the global settings I do have RTX Dynamic Vibrance enabled however, but i dont believe that would alter the resolution

The Nvidia app is version 10.0.0.499/p

is there a way to update the app from the program itself, as i dont see an update option in the settings?
Not that I found
It tells you the app version and info in the app
But didnt see a check for update option
I just went to the app page
And checked version numbers
It will probably end up It can check for updates
Once it's matured a bit

One thing you could try
Uninstall the app
Does it do the same thing?
If not then yeah it's probably something in the app
If it does then probably something in nvidia control panel
Or maybe the game settings
