thing about those poor people in the twin towers who jumped just did not want to burn instead. They had a long way down to try and pass out, not sure if the stock of burning or falling would have made them die before !
There is the situation were a tail gunner in a burning Lancaster bomber decide to jump from 15,000 feet apx. When his parachute was also on fire. Strangely enough he survived as he land on pine trees covered in snow. Broke some bones of course, though that was not his may concern. As when the German found him they want to shoot him as a spy. He asked to inspect the damage Lancaster which did have the remains of a parachute !

There a slim but very unlikely chance of dying from the trauma of falling from a height, slightly higher chance of passing out. 99% of people would hit the ground conscious and its probably rare that its immediatly fatal - in reality people probably live around 8 minutes on average after impact. (Falling directly head first into concrete might be another story).

yeah there is a few vids of some terrible falls and ya thing umm he dead but nope though tbh would have been better for the poor chap tbh.
