Read mixed opinions on this, some say the hosts can add in some bloat or it can cause problems with updates. Im setting up a new site on Stable Point and thought want to have a trouble free experience.
I can't comment on Softaculous but I can say that installing WordPress manually is an easy affair if you have even a modicum of knowledge about transferring files and the basics of setting up a database, so if you're concerned about other methods I'd just default to DIY.
Never had any problems with updates. I’m not even sure what issues you’d have… Softaculous is totally fine, and if you don’t like the bloat… then uninstall and do it manually.
Just a head up, if you’re asking this question I’m assume you don’t have a lot of experience, but WordPress sites are very easy targets for attackers when you start installing plugins and don’t keep them up to date. Make sure whatever you do you’re on top of the maintenance of it.
