I have a 4U case that supposedly can only handle a 115mm cooler height. Are there any low-profile solutions that would handle the heat of a i9-12900K or am I going to have to come up with a different plan?

Thanks.

i cant see you cooling that chip with a low profile cooler, you would have to lower the power input a lot.
what case is it, no way to jam an AIO on there?

Most U type cases are made for extreme air flow

I’ve not thought of throttling it, that’d seem like a waste of its capabilities.
Not really, they don't lose much performance when throttled, especially for gaming. You could fit a top-down cooler and it would cope with a 65 watt config for gaming without being too loud.

That’s interesting. I’ll look into throttling and see if that solves my issue.

I’ve taken the case apart and I reckon the clearance will be almost 150mm (the specs say 115mm) so that also opens up my options.

SI-100 is worth a look if it will fit the motherboard

I see it's a 4U case so it probably doesn't have vented side panels. The Silver Soul 135 or NH-D12L are the best SFF tower coolers, would probably have to limit it to ~180w or something like that though.
