Malaysia preview quotes - Ferrari, Force India, HRT & more
With an overtaking-friendly track, combining long, high-speed straights with technical twisty sections, there’s more than enough for the drivers to get stuck into over the course of the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend. But this year there’s an additional curveball to contend with thanks to the new Pirelli tyres, which are as-yet untested in the kind of sizzling temperatures we tend to see in Kuala Lumpur. Key team personnel and, of course, the drivers discuss their chances of success at the challenging Sepang International Circuit…

McLaren, however, didn’t let the reigning constructors’ champions have it all their own way and were a very close second in terms of pace. The leading teams and their rivals reflect on their early progress in Sepang…

They should just remove the flex rule of5mm or what ever it is. It's unprovable and just keep upping the weight test if they so wish. It's getting boring now, fia are happy with it, so get your designers on the case to copy it. I dont even think it's braking any rules as several parts seem to be contributing and as such each part is under it's own limit.

So gutted that I am going to miss quali AND the race :( - girlfriend's birthday this weekend. Guess I will be heading over to iplayer.

Was wanting to do a massive BBQ but it there must be a mass exodus from Bristol as litterally none of my mates are about. Still get to watch f1 and then do nothing all day.

I hope I finish work early tonight, but should be back for 2nd practice.

Drs failed before it was implemented, it is not racing, it is not fair and is a totally silly idea. Even if it works how they want, it's still a total failure.

Its not fair because it artificially gives one car an advantage and keeps that advantage untill they break. In no way is it fair. Backed up by some top f1 drivers past and present.
What they need to do is sort the issues out which are.
To much aero downforce, not enough mechanical grip, not enough engine power. The real issues can be easily solved if they wish. Without making the sport a sit com. It has no place in f1 and never will, the sooner it's abandoned the better.

It is happening and has happened before, they are introducing ground effect. Lots of inventions have been throw out the rule book and everytime they change wing size and angles they have to re do the aero.

Drs is not fair and as such has no place in any sport let alone f1

Yes because with ground effect will come a reduction in front and rear wing to compensate for increased downforce from the ground effect, meaning less dirty air. CIA could if they so wish put strict size limits on that would reduce aero completely.

No idea why you are including kers, no one has a problem with that in a fairness sense.

There's no point in spice if its fake, I would rather see racing and not a wrestling type event.

I expect it will be, the rbr is a mighty car and is just built on and refined from last year, eking out even more time, over the completely redesigned and pretty useless mclaren.

AH - if the McLaren is useless, what are the rest - utter carp ? :D

Was referring to the original car in pre season testing but why not. Fell asleep after about 29mins of practice.

Times looking encouraging but not holding much hope rbi always seem to Franck it up on Saturday.

Double diffuser is different as that wasn't against the rules. However saying that fia still don't care so it's legal and other teams need to copy or shut up. Also it looks like it's more than the front wing, with several bits helping it. So it's probably end each parts flex limit anyway.
