Massive Car insurance costs?

I went used EV this time round after 5 years of leasing. I was not expecting insurance to be cheap. But two drivers on a Cupra Born eboost model cost £370 and that was with me adding extras like no claims protection.

Happy enough with that. I suspect the uncertainty of EVs has subsided this past few years.

I did another insurance quote on my Alfa. When I bought it, it was £600, went to nearly £1200, last renewal £800 and a few months later it is back to £600.

Was 485 last year with Aviva zero
Renewal was 385 oddly enough was expecting the same or closer to 600. Was cheaper than ANY comparison site could do (closest was 416) so just staying with them.
They wouldn't budge on price so just went for it....

Renewal on the GTO came through, just about sub £200 inc breakdown, not even gonna bother running it through the comparisons at that price, and its unlikely the brokers will beat it enough to make it worth while going through the hassle of phoning them all up.

I had my renewal through the other day, it's gone down nearly £300 to ~500, including breakdown etc.
Not too bad given we live too close to Luton for comfort.

I got my renewal through last week and ESure were trying to drill me by doubling my premium going from £523 to well over £1000! I checked and ended up paying about £100 less then I did last year.

(This was for and Alfa Romeo Giulia 2017)

I went through Performance Direct for my MG TF (not a classic but can be argued it's that sort of, fun weekend project car) the last couple of years. They were quoting me £227 online, but I got a renewal offer by email of £143 all in. Last year was £163 so won't complain nor bother shopping around.

After doing 24 miles last year that's only about £6/mile :P

Was pleasantly surprised my multi car (2 cars) insurance quote was £170 cheaper this year at £725, I even had 2 windscreen chip repair claims.

Had the same; gonna name and shame it was Admiral but I'm pretty sure it's not an uncommon occurrence among other insurers... Tell them you don't want to renew, they make you jump through some hoops saying YES I WANT TO CANCEL over and over... then they go "We'll give you £100 discount?" and you still have to be like "No, CANCEL!!"

I've been with Admiral for years. At renewal time the price usually goes up and we do the annual dance where I call them and they manage to apply some magic discount to beat the comparison sites. Except this year, when the renewal has actually come in nearly £60 cheaper than last year. So for the first time in ages I think I'll save myself the hassle and just accept the renewal.
