McDonald’s general discussion

I always ask for no sauce on any takeaway burger/kebab/sandwich, nowadays it seems to be a significant constituent of the meal, but often the lowest quality part.

McDonald’s quarter pounders drip with tomato sauce, not only is it messy and goes everywhere but it’s not pleasant to eat that much tomato sauce.

Kebab shops seem to flood the kebab with cheap sauce making it 2/3rds meat and 1/3 sauce again not nice.

Subway staff seem unable to apply small amounts of sauce. I’ve asked for ‘one’ line of tomato sauce and the guy was warming his arm up first with a few fake passes and then applied five lines before I could shout WTF dude!

If I get a breakfast sandwich in Greggs I always say "a tiny bit" of ketchup and what I receive is often swimming in the stuff. :(

Very saucy big arch

Found that ordering a Big Mac without the lettuce (it’s boring iceberg) keeps the burgers from sliding out. Like extra pickles. Though some McDs charge 20p extra. As when I claimed my free BM which got from the Monopoly promotion, I had to pay 20p. Had an interview about 3 mins drive from that McDs and I was starving

Any other veggies here miss the old McDonald's veggie burgers? A few years ago they replaced them with the McPlant ones, which are fine, but they're "fake meat" style and surely I can't be the only vegetarian to whom "look how closely this resembles dead animal, isn't that great!!!" is absolute NOT a positive selling point..?

I tried the Arch when it was released. Probably the best burger McDs has done in a while if a bit expensive. I found the sauce tasted slightly more mustardy than the standard Big Mac Sauce.
Found a little place close to me that does smash burgers in a 5 guys style. Had a cheeseburger, fries and drink for £9.95 and was quite impressed with the overall quality.

They still sell the Vegetable deluxe, IIRC it’s not quite the same in that the ‘burger’ is not a single round ‘patty’ as it used to be and it is instead 2 of the veggie dippers but the concept and taste is broadly the same.

A proper veggie bean burger or whatever can be really nice when done properly.

I'm not a veggie myself but I'm not a fan of imitation meat... A properly done veggie burger or any vegetarian dish for that matter I'm happy to eat all day long.

When I worked there I used to eat the veggie burger all the time, not because I’m a veggie or anything like that but because it’s actually pretty good as far as things McDonald’s sell go, I’d even go as far as saying underrated.

It’s just a shame you can’t get the custom version I coined the ‘veggie actually deluxe’ burger as a customer.

My edition is:
Sesame bun (same as now)
Half the mayo*
Chilli sauce
Lettuce
Tomato slice
Orange cheese slice
Veg burger
Bun

*from the mayo chicken, not the usual sauce from the chicken sandwich - yes they are different. Occasionally they had yogurt and mint on for a promo burger, that was epic in the veggie with chilli sauce.
