Mixing different subs, Yes, No or Maybe?

I've currently got a BK XXLS400DF in my AV system for the LFE (5.1.4) and use the high level input off the stereo amp terminals for music listening.

I've got the option of picking up a cheap 2nd hand REL T7i, so I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to try it out and mix different subs to go for the 5.2.4. Looking around on google the answer seems to be yes, no or maybe :p

Is it just a case of trying it out and sometimes different subs work together and sometimes not?

Also, just wondering about running 2 subs on the stereo amp, do you just connect the high level input to the same terminals as the 1st sub?

If you're looking at sub upgrade may be better to buy better sub or two better subs rather than a additional sub.

Depends if you feel need +6db output .

IE rather than buy another xls 400 buy two svs pb3000 pro that would be massive upgrade for HT

No bad idea to have subs of different brand. You'll want another xls 400

The bk and rel manaul should have instructions high level off left and right

Cheers
