Unless I'm mistaken, my stats look pretty poor. But maybe that will change over the coming weeks.

It looks like you are on fastpath at the moment but getting a good few error seconds. Maybe not enough to move you to interleaved.

Looks like your SNR has dipped low to keep hold of your 64Mb sync also. If you were to reboot it, You would probably sync around 60Mb.

What is your home network like? Phone extensions, Home plugs?

I have noticed my ping go down. My ADSL line was always fast path but VDSL changed that to interleaved which was annoying.

Home network is not that extensive at all. Have a gigabit switch coming off the router for the Tv and everything under it like AV receiver, PS4...etc. Then several wireless devices. Do have another Ethernet that is going hard wired to the computer upstairs.

The only extension to the phone socket I can see is when the black cable comes into the house there is a 2-3m white cable extension to the master socket. No home plugs.

Would like to see if I can sort any issues out though as next door that attached to the same mast gets 70 odd Meg and lower latency.

Thanks for the info! Is there a place that can help me translate these stats for a layman?

EDIT - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats_errors.htm

Found this! Will take a read.

No G.Inp so guess it's an ECI cab. Looks like the D7000 is doing an amazing job holding the sync at 4 megs above the max attainable. Do you know how far away your cab is?

Yes, ECI cab and around 400m if i follow the track of the masts and road. :)

Never had any problem with my line really with regards to drop outs, not that i know of anyway. I am concerned with why next door has 10 odd meg more than me download speed though.

Here's another. Should i expect this to resync some time this week?

I thought anything below 6dB SNR is poor :(

ot poor as such, That is just what DLM stays around. It can be more or less, However like I said if you resync it will go back to 6db and a lower sync rate.

Have you tried just having the modem plugged into the test socket for a while?

My line had a re-sync and gained 4Mb on the upstream and additional SNR but that was after several months uptime.

Hows the 7800 behaving?

It seems to be behaving well, its given me a slight increase in speed on the upstream (6.8M rather than 6.3M), downstream is still 25M as my line has been capped at this value. S/N varies over time but is always around 6dB.

I cant work out how to unlock this modem to access telnet. I have tried all methods, none of them seem to work. Not sure i'd get much info from it though as its lantiq based. For the moment i've decided to leave it alone and get on with more important things lol....

I shall look into logging a graph. It does seem to fluctuate!

Can't say I've notice any problems with the Internet at all though so maybe I should let it consume me! :)

Should look something like this. My DS really does not move, my US on the other hand can drop to 6db if the weather is bad, but as you see it recovers and so does the attainable speed.

Seems like my DS can go as low as 3.9 but does go up again a small amount. I have several CRC errors every 15 minutes. Not lost sync in the week it's been up for though.

The downstream speed is down to 58mbps on the stats and 3.8 SNR.

Am I experiencing the same as Ardsar?

Took a 3db hit on attenuation on Wednesday, dropped me from 71 to 69. It rained last night and I had negative attainable rates but it held on. Thin OR have been pratting about with the cables around here again. Winter is coming and I'll probabkly drop another couple of Mbps before spring arrives.

If your S/N does not recover back to 6dB and continues to drop over time then yes you have the same issue. It would be interesting to see your Bit loading graph shortly after rebooting your router compared with after a few days when your S/N has dropped. I suspect some of your bins are being marked unusable and therefore you will see gaps in the bit loading.

Going to find a Windows laptop to use and log a graph with stats. It's a shame it's dropping. Would this be a Broadcom/ECI incompatibility?

Is there a way to avoid DSLAM dropping my bandwidth and latency when unplugging?
