Why? they've paid for a product.

It's a preview of a product at a heavily discounted price. Just like Baldur's Gate 3. Which was act 1 for basically 3 years.

Meanwhile people were praising diablo 4 at £70 for how great it was at release without knowing that actually once you hit 50 its basically garbage and still is 9 months later.

I must be really bored to warrant even responding to this but here you go. I hope this helps you understand. I have emphasised the most obvious part but the rest of it is equally applicable.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

As sson as you ask for money, you can expect your product to be criticised, that's just thwe way it is. You can't expect people to remain excited if their experience is poor.

There is criticism and then there are unrealistic expectations.

The expectation of early access which it is clearly marked as is that the game is playable but it's not complete and will be buggy.

That has always been the case with early access titles. If you bought it expecting a complete game, maybe you should do a little research first so you're aware of exactly what your getting instead of jumping on the "it's popular bandwagon" because streamers are playing it or youtube is talking about it.

To be honest it seems like the devs care and are working hard to patch problems and take on board feedback.

I'm absolutely hooked and I normally hate souls esque games but I'm really enjoying this, I still suck though.

It needs some more things in it like explaining what things do that you're purchasing, I was looking at the runes earlier and it was stuff like 'aura of healing' - whilst I can guess it heals it literally gives you zero info, same with a lot of other mods etc you can do/buy
