Quite possibly part of it yes
For what it's worth
Here's the audio blurb from motherboard manual
ROG SupremeFX ALC4082 with ESS® ES9018Q2C DAC and the bundled ROG Clavis USB digital-to-analog converter for high-fidelity sound.
Have to say even using the included clavis
Connecting to my tablet or phone
With the clavis and the same cable
Doesn't produce as good a sound as the motherboard
So what they're connected to plays a part too

On the ANC side of it
2 return trips to Australia non stop 17 hour flights
All seated near the wings/engines
I am very glad I bought them
ANC on its own no music or anything playing
The engine noise is cut down to a very bearable noise
With music playing
Can't even hear them :)

Sending my space ones back, after reading a bunch more reviews and testing them over the week the anc is a lot worse that my initial test and the sound quality is also lacking (confirmed by the reviews ive seen)

The reviews have mentioned the soundcore q45’s being a much better sounding and noise cancelling headphone though so I might order them and see. If all else fails ill order the xm4’s

Q45’s arrived, still have the space ones in hand for comparison .
initial impressions they are significantly better that the space ones. The sound is actually impressive and the anc is a lot better.
On Monday I will be able to directly compare to xm4’s and xm5’s from coworkers. I will also be able to give these a good listen in a noisy office to test the anc more.
