OcUK Poker Thread.

Just had an epic Sit and Go.

Buy in was $3, I was chip leader and then lost a few hands and I was bottom. Worked my way up to second with 4 other people left.

Then It was 2 of us. We were pretty even on chips, I had around 6,100 and he had 5,500. I went all in with two pair and he called and managed to get trips on the river :(.

He had a massive chip lead, but I closed the gap! Watched some videos on how to play when I have low chips and shoved most hands, he always folded! Built up my stack and then made some great calls. Before I knew it we were even. Then i slow played pocket 9's, got a set on the flop and shoved. He called and then I was in the lead.

The tables turned, and eventually when I got pocket queens I made him go all in and I won! :)

Good luck, DAIR. :)

(Be careful with AK).

To be honest with you I hate having AK. It's the only hand often regret playing.... And not playing. I have to be under serious pressure to go all in pre flop with that hand.

Have decided not to play again to today. That loss really frustrated me lol. Will give it another go on Thursday or Friday. When my mind is clear.

I also agree with that guys comments. In online poker the AK is way overrated. So much so it makes me sick.

^^ It is frustrating, I know. :D

The important thing that you can take from this is that you didn't make a bad play, and go out through poor decision making. Shoving any ace in your position was a must, and ace queen off suit was certainly the right thing to do. Unfortunately, you walked into pocket 10's. :(

With reference to Noni Juice's comments (I must buy some of that) : I also had a sit 'n go that went in a sort of similar fashion. I went from $1500 down to $35, and then proceeded to come back and win! :D I was given a helping hand, though. My next hand was pocket 8's, and I shipped it all in, flopped a set and never looked back. :)

If you have $47 in your account you should NOT be playing $1/$2 cash. The general rule of thumb for cash games is that you should have between 20 and 30 buy ins for the stakes you are playing. I.e. the normal buy in for $1/$2 is $200. You should have approximately $4,000 to $6,000 in your account to justify playing this level. This is why you play 'different' at the higher stakes.... because your playing with everything in your account and its therefore 'scared' money. Based on the hand scenarios you have given and the questions you have asked you should be playing as small stakes as possible till you grasp the game a bit more, otherwise you will most likely lose a lot of money.

Try playing $0.02/$0.05 cash games or $3 sit n goes and try and build up your bankroll as you learn.

As previous poster said - read 2+2 forums for good advice.

Good luck :)

+1 Good advice.

For that bankroll, only play 1/2c and freerolls until you hit $100. Then step up to the 2/5c tables. Best of luck at the tables. :)

I put in $50 and go straight to the $3.50 and $7 Hyper Turbo 6 player Sit & Gos.
I just don't feel like playing for peanuts..

For me its all about the cash games. Go in with $10 and turn that into at least $30 before moving to another table. You can make a serious amount in a few hundred hands lol... Last night I played over 700 hands.

I may re-deposit with Stars, and have a go at some Sunday Million Sat's.

What are those $39 ones? 2 table double shoot-outs?

You're looking for the $36+ $3 Satellite. There arent any today but there will be some on Sunday. In my opinion its the best chance of making it into the Sunday Millions without paying the $250 buy in.

You could give the $1 Sunday Millions Satellite a try but that field is too cheap and the field will no doubt be full of the not so serious players (Fishes, and go all inners with any hand).

I'm afraid I've given up. Unless I win big in a few other Tournaments I shant be taking place in Sunday's event :(

Got one of our 2 day rebuiy games in the pub this weekend,

25k starting stack, 40 min levels, £20 rebuy, rebuys all of day 1

sounds mental but as day 1 only goes to 600/1200 its not that bad, great fun usually :p

oh and lots of beer :p

Road to Sunday Millions Pt.2... lol

Competed in another Sunday Millions satellite.

So close. Came third. Whoever came first got a $215 ticket to the event.

Anyway, taking part cost $11. I received $35 for coming third.

Things appear to have gone **** up at Pokerstars.

I'm currently involved in the last major Sunday Millions Qualifier..... The whole tournament appears to have crashed and blinds are still increasing.

I'm stuck in the Sunday Storm. Just went out of my Sunday Mill qualifier. Dam you pocket Queens.

Well im stuck doing nothing. We've only played 2 hands in 30 mins.

They had better restart the whole tournament. Blinds are still going up and Antes have just started.

After failing at loads of satellites, I bought in directly. Here we go, just let this be my one time pleeeeeeeaase!!:)

Tourney is running crazy slow!!
