Agree with above, as a generic door it needs to be user friendly. If its a more secure door, then seeing it go through multiple stages gives you that feeling of importance, and it could also build suspense in certain circumstances.

Everything else looked really nice though.

Side not i have a 10% discount code which i think is still valid if anyone is interested

Has there been any update?

Humbug when you logged off, I killed that guy. Then 3 sabres came after I killed all of them too! I WISH I recorded it lol, they were so bad..

Neutron power..:D:D

I died when I warped back to Grim and spawned INSIDE of an asteroid when I came out of QD.

I'd expect that to be around $750, luxury & military tend to hold a premium, so a 100+ meter corvette must surely be more than the 890 Jump as a luxury yacht.

Cant imagine it'll be a free-for-all sale either, i just wish that with things such as this they'd raffle their allotment out. You stick your name on a list saying you want one, CIG pull 100 names from a digital hat, and give them 48hrs to make the purchase, any which dont get sold are drawn to those who didnt get a chance. This F5 spamfest and having to possibly melt stuff to buy something that'll be sold out before you can process it - its stupid and doesnt benefit anyone.

Haven't CiG had to rewrite large parts of CryEngine so they couldn't just upgrade the engine even if they wanted to?

Yes they're working on their own highly-customised branch of CryEngine at this point, a major version change would be suicide.

They've got the manpower and skills to just carry on customising their current engine to suit their needs...trying to shoehorn such a specialist set of requirements into *another* ill-suited engine would be bonkers.

Thats not what i meant, when Chris talks about Cryengine not having this and that and being older than UE 4 its clear he's still thinking in Cryengine of 2012 terms.
Its moved on 4 major updates and 3 revisions of a complete ground up rework since then. :)
Perhaps he like a lot of people think Crytek are dead? CiG are bringing an old engine upto scratch as well as customising it for their own needs, like most AAA developers do.
As for Crytek, they are very much in 2016 with Cryengine.

It will have Vulkan when Chris is still umming and ahing about it.

psst, don't tell humbug this...

That's why it's now nick named "Star engine" as it's pretty much a rewrite

*runs n hides

:eek::mad::p:D Shut up you.

He's trying to avoid delays, changing engine now may introduce some unforeseen issues which push SQ42 back and since it's likely behind already that's not something he's going to be keen on. At best he'll want his own Cryengine guys to double check, tell him how long it'd take etc.

Alternatively he's going to OK it but doesn't want to until after Citizencon..

Its not worth it, As most of us know Foundry 42 both UK and Germany are partly made up of ex' Cryengine Developers, Crytek had a development roadmap and its gone with them, a lot of it will have ended up in both engines.

Having said that it is always a good idea to keep track of developments with the engine you're using, even if you've pulled its source code to pieces, there may always be something useful to you that you can pull from the newer source code.

I thought I recall reading a while ago that CIG share any of their changes to CryEngine directly back to Crytek in order to improve the base engine? Might not be valid anymore but given the developers now at CIG and the various licensing terms for using 3rd party engines perhaps that makes it cheaper?

I've been out of the loop for a long while and looking at all this a few things strike me.

If the goal posts are constantly moving and they're using the ever increasing funding to open new studios and make new features and what not, where is the profit? By this point, won't the majority of those who will play SC have invested by now? Surely, the end result for this is that they've all been paid a salary, from the crowd funding, to make a game and ultimately, there's very little profit?

It seems to me, unless I'm missing something, that they'll be eternally stuck in a system of needing crowd funding to start any projects as they won't have enough cash reserves to do it off their own backs. Unless of course they hit it big with micro transactions.

I'd love some insight from those of you who have followed this more closely than I.

No one really knows, the assumption is Micro transactions, sales of SQ42 of which there are 3 episodes, so far...

Anyway, ATV 3.9 UK.

Looks like we are getting a full rework menu UI's, interaction UI's and a new customisable Mobiglass..... looks great, can't wait.

Roberts is pretty savvy, he's building something that will fund itself long term and be a valuable IP. unlike wing commander, he owns the rights to this one entirely.

There's definitely a very real risk of them running out of money before the game is finished, no doubt about that.

I'm a little concerned about Roberts tbh, he's got a bit of Molyneux about him. People like that with grand visions should stick to being creative director and they need a producer who is equally senior and can reign them in and concentrate on getting a finished product out the door....seems with CIG Roberts is king and expects to be surrounded by yes men.

But....despite this, the game does seem to be making good progress. I'm hopeful....and patient :)

If there good, sometimes its useful to have a bit of a megalomaniac in-charge.

2017 is going to be a good year all-round, Star Citizen will come together as a game, AMD will have new CPU that look's like the may make Intel break into cold sweats, at last, i need a 6 core 12 threader but not at what Intel are asking for one, and Vega, hopefully something worth upgrading to for <£350.

I'm bored with 2016.
