******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Believe it or not... this is fan art, to me it looks like a CIG - RSI designed ship, a posh Aurora....

I've just decided i hate ShadowPlay...

Haha i do have issues with shadowplay and corruptions as of late not had them before so think it's more of a software issue recently.

As much as I have problems with OBS I'm sticking with it for now, Shadowplay have been promising control over audio channels etc for years but in the meantime keep ******** about with the interface and options instead.

As much as i wish shadowplay had split audio OBS is just far to much effort for what i want myself out of recording software. I've tried it and others with various settings/encoders ect. Not one of them offered the simplicity of shadowplay that i enjoy. Im not interested in 99% of the stuff they have to offer. I just want to record my game for the occasional celine moments.

Go red and use relive! Really good so far

I will pass on that ;) i love shadowplay for the simple fact it's always on and I don't have to think about it. And if someone awesome happens I have it recorded.

+ gsync is something I'm not willing to loose for the sake of a few corrupted videos in a current software revision.

Think humbug is on a 1070 aswell so don't see him swapping any time soon :p

No more $0 CCUs will be sold. For balance reasons, nothing to do with them being unable to profit on the back of them cranking up ship prices, of course

I would also like to announce an upcoming change to the CCU system. Starting with this sale, the base price for all CCUs will be $5. We’ve been thinking about this change for a while because there are currently 1.1 million unused CCUs in our system. That’s great for funding because it means there are a million potential ships backers can upgrade to at any time. It’s not so good for our designers, who use data on ships owned in their balancing work. As you can imagine, that’s getting more important the closer we get to the in-game economy!

We’re going with this route because it still allows you to make changes in your ships but will hopefully limit the amount of previously-$0 ‘cross grade’ CCUs that are being stockpiled for a number of reasons (some as intended, others not!) The additional $5 will be included in the ship’s overall value, so it will be returned should you decide to melt something. This will not impact existing CCUs already purchased and it will not change your ability to melt older ships for credit to switch over to a new concept.

Also, Ben confirmed ALL CCU prices are going up by $5 by next Friday:

I believe every CCU is $5 more now (or will be next Friday.) The extra money is added to the value of the ship so you get it back on a melt.

So by the sounds of things, this is essentially a $5 surcharge to change the ship.
$35 to $35 change = $5 cost.
$100 to $120 change = was $20 but now $5 more, so $25 demanded.

You dont 'lose' the $5, but the value of your ship isnt any higher. That $120 ship that cost you $125, if you upgrade that again.. its a $120 priced ship to say a $150 ship, you're paying $30+5. Thats now $160 you've paid. Why? because they cant figure out the balance of who has what, in a game they constantly tell us is in alpha and balancing isnt the focus.

Meanwhile, $275 for the new fighter next week.

For those not regular Star Citizen users CCU stands for 'Cross Chassis Upgrades' which you can do here....

So to use this screen shot as an example my Freelancer on the left has the same value as the Hornet in the list on the right, if i didn't already have a Hornet and wanted one or just wanted to try it out i could just do a $0 swap.
If i wanted the Cutlass Red it would have cost me the Freelancer + $10 as it is $120 an my Freelancer is only $110.

Now, as i understand this when this comes into effect if i wanted to swap the Freelancer for the Hornet i would be charged a $5 surcharge effectively making the $110 Hornet cost me $115.
If what Ben says is true and understood that $5 surcharge actually applies to all CCUs, so the $120 Cutlass Red would actually cost me $125.
Whats more everytime i used the CCU it will cost me another $5.

As many of you know i have contributed a lot of positive stuff to this thread, that ^^^^^ that has made my blood boil a little.
If this really was not about money what they would do it make you keep the ship you backed with and allow you to upgraded for the cost of extra value ships but also let you limited time loan other ships of the same or less value of you account holdings.

PS: i bought another ship yesturday, they are still using $1.24 to the £ exchange rates despite the fact that it has been $1.29 to $1.30 now for weeks.

That regular money coming in is starting to diminish significantly, its nothing like what it used to be.

The problem is the PU has remained virtually unchanged for 2 years, there isn't much to it to begin with..... 3.0 is not a moment too soon.

Yeah, last night i was genuinely in 2 minds as to whether to ask for a refund and go back to a starter ship (probably the Starfarer too as it was gifted) because its this sort of stuff that drives me mad. They're forever telling us how amazing we are, and how it couldnt happen without us, and then treating us with contempt by saying our contribution (credit) isnt worth as much. When they sell the BMM at 2 prices, with cash being cheaper than credit (or CCU, the 'from' ship is essentially your credit) its annoying, but its not like we havent had chances to buy it at its lowest price before. With ships like the Polaris, which was sold cheaper to cash buyers, and credit from existing backers was treated as 2nd class... that really didnt sit well with me. Its bang out of order, frankly.

I dont mind ships going up ~10% each year (do it at January, like the currency correction) but treating existing contribution as inferior to new contribution, why is my $100 last year or whenever worth less than $100 today?
Im going to let it sit for a few days, but im on the fence.

Urrrrgh

I'm sat on like 4 lowish ships and a load of melt. I guess I'm going to have to actually figure out what I want and then do the upgrades before the CCU "tax". Bit of a pain really as I would have preferred to have made my choice later...

My 315p is a $0 ccu for the reliant core iirc, which I was considering last night. Would like an avenger but can only upgrade my aurora for it, both my ships have Lti and I don't want to lose this.

Annoying thing is I'm really enjoying my 315 in arena commander:D

They are pretty damn good all rounders - but all the mechanics aren't in so I'd hold off getting one if it meant adding more cash.

I only rent them with REC at the moment but one of my favourites.

I'm thinking about making some changes to the ships I own.

Currently have a 325a pledge package alongside a standalone Vanguard Warden; I think I would prefer a more focused fighter ship and a cargo vessel. Thinking about getting a Freelancer and a Sabre when it comes up for sale again.

The 325a is a bit Meh and although thr Vanguard looks like a beast on paper it just doesn't deliver in dogfights, most likely due to its larger size and reduced manoeuvrability compared to smaller craft.

I melted and upgraded my Super Hornet to get the Vanguard a few months ago and I regret it now.

I also extremely tempted to melt down the Vanguard for store credit and get a Connie, just such a stunning looking ship.

I wouldn't suggest getting ships for how they perform now, you'll be disappointed later once things are balanced, some mechanics haven't even been implemented yet and others are likely to change later. Bottom line though is that if you want a good dogfighter, you'll need to buy one rather than a more generalised ship. Only combat ships will be exceptional at combat but they'll also pretty much only be able to do that.

If you want to try the Connie out pop on our discord on a friday night and we'll let you fly one of ours, that's typically our go-to ship most evening. It flies like a bus these days though and the damage mechanics etc have a lot of work still to be done.
