Seems like a decent phone but I'm not seeing a £1200-1300 phone - in fact I'd struggle to justify spending more than half that.

Expensive, under performing, doesn't seem like a good deal.
Shame as being wider I'd be more interested.
Even if you sold the xm5s, it's still not cheap enough.

Battery life looks great, camera actually looks very good and I'm glad the camera app looks more simple and familiar to use, but odd that the chip throttles fast. Curious if that's part of normal behaviour that Sony set to ensure longer battery life. Still is a beast in terms of performance, but does lag behind compared to other 8 gen 3 phones.

Unfortunately it just doesn't compete in price. A quick search the S24U can be found for around £1000 now, and it still feels like the better phone overall.

+ every phone should have that grip frame and back
+ battery life
+ increased length of updates, but not pixel or samsung length
+ excellent camera

- price!

It'll drop to £999 around Xmas anyway which is enough time for the apps to have been sorted.

That said, the 1V will probably be around £6/700 by that point.

(All guesses based on previous Xperia pricing)

People are suggesting it's due to Sony pulling out of mobile soon...

I'd be surprised if that was completely, they have a proper hardcore base in Asia.

Hmmm, I could do with getting a new phone but can I wait until Christmas?
I'd rather not spend £1300 on the VI

I believe they dropped the V by £300 on Black Friday last year.

Normally a good pre-order deal around on contracts too, I'm actually bit more interested now after that GSM Arena review, battery is a proper beast by the looks of it.

My last Sony I bought on a 3 month contract, think I paid it straight off. Worked out cheapest, had the headphones, which I wanted anyway.

Yeah that's without the promo headphones. Needs to be that price with them!
