If you just want something super cheap, search "Cree Q5 torch" on Amazon, loads of the same generic design for about £2.

Or some lovely torches if you want to spend a bit more, I like my Nitecore EA41 as it takes AAs.

Yep, something zoomable. The one from Aldi was £13 and was pretty good. I'd go up to maybe £25 or so on a new one.

I want small length maybe 5 inches or so?
Zoomable
Decent projecting distance so I can find the black dog in the pitch black :)

The cheap Cree q5 ones on Amazon are zoomable from what I understand, on the ones I have I can slide the end in and out and it focuses on a point or spreads out.

Good point though, the EA41 doesn't do that.

I remember getting this, was ok and the zoom idea is smart for focusing even if not initially perfectly bright or using plain AA. I'd rather buy from uk or prime here as the build quality varies, not great QC but its worth getting this cheap for not important tasks.

I did find another much better cree type that zoomed, still cheapy build but lost the link. Had to wait a month for Chinese shipping, I would advise just use amazon and you can return it if need be. After a year, I dropped it some the glass detached, needs glue and the zooming thing wont stay still but the light does work better then a normal (cheap) torch still :D

I was referring to the one on Amazon, but essentially the question is what is the difference in using an AA battery and a 26650? Power? Brightness? Time it lasts? etc

Got my BLF SE today and as you can see it's very compact, pefect for an EDC:

Did you polish your A6 to get it this shiny? (oo-er!)

Mine is more matt in its finish. Will take it out and compare it to my Fenix E35 UE.

Picked up one of these too:

Seems a good price for a cheap 18650, arrived today and will compare it to a Panasonic to see what it's capacity is like.

Still awaiting my $18 olight s20 to arrive from China...shouldn't be too long now. :)

Just out of interest, what are the best value 18650's? Without being dangerous when charging?
