Stupid Bluetooth Multipoint question

I've just got a multipoint headset for work to allow me to use it with both Laptop and iPhone.

I am having this issue:
When someone calls me via Teams, it rings on both devices. My preference is to pick up on the laptop in case a screen is shared at some point - but when I do so, the headset is not connecting for the audio.

I think the cause of this is that the phone recognises the incoming call quicker than the laptop and rings first - so multipoint picks the phone, and will not switch to the laptop while there's still an audio output (the ringing) from the phone.

Only solution I've found so far is to grab the phone and quickly turn bluetooth off, then answer the call on the laptop, then turn phone bluetooth back on. It requires a bit of juggling though, and delays me answering the call rather a lot!

Anyone come across this and formulated a cleverer, quicker, approach?
