Hey,

So I thought I would try and increase the size of my muscles and get fit etc...

I was taking the "maxi muscle" carbo drink...i.e. 1 shake a day and eating normally as I believe that shake contains all, thats what i was told and i noticed my muscles were increasing but then stopped after the first 2 - 3weeks...

I was weighing myself everyweek and noticed I gained a few pounds a week and again it stopped...

Should I continue to drink the carb drink or not? I noticed my belly was getting bigger as all those extra carbs...

What would you recommend...

I always have trouble gaining mass and building my muscles...I really want to but its a nightmare cuz I smoke like 10 - 15 fags a day and its a nightmare when you are trying to get fit...Im just not ready to stop atm though..

Please help me gain mass and grow my muscles...

ATM i weigh under 11 stones ideally I would like to be 13 - 14 stones but look musclar and not thin hmmm

thanks in advance..

I've had a bit too much to drink but I can't find anywhere in that post that states you're actually lifting weights. Perhaps listing your routine and the diet [food, not supps] would be more productive as this can be advised on. Remember, you don't need supplements if the diet is good. All they do is boost the intake when logistics get in the way. I haven't supplemented for years. Eat often, make sure it's balanced and clean, but just ensure you eat lots of it. The third aspect of this is rest. Exercise, diet and rest, together give growth. Take one away and it all starts to suffer.

usually I:

a) have porridge and toast for brekkie
b) lunch = turkey, chicken, ham sandwiches (one of them) with lettuce and mayo, and a banana
c) dinner consists of some meat, potatoes or rice

exercise routine:

i work out mon - fri at home with 15kilo weights for around 30mins on triceps, biceps, shoulders,

i normally have a supp before i work out...

i really would love to put weight on and build my muscles but nothing much is happening for me..i have gained some weight thanks to the supp and also some muscles but not like I would like to have..

pls help

thanks

Have you read the sticky yet?

Your diet is massively flawed if you want to gain muscle and you've still not posted your workout routine.

If you're serious about fuelling your body you'll need to double your daily intake, keep the food clean, eat often and ensure you get a good supply of protein. Most people supplement the protein to get enough but I've not noticed much difference using it personally, but then I eat well. It's not all boiled fish and mash potato. There's some great ideas for food, particularly over at Muscletalk.

It doesn't matter how unfit you are, 15 kilos isn't going to force your body to grow, it's simply nowhere near enough weight. Another aspect of this is thinking outside in when you should be thinking inside out. Flinging dumbells will do little and you can spend months, years even, gaining nothing. The best base exercise is the squat. You can squat with bodyweight to begin with then gradually add weight by using the dumbells, but ultimately, you need a bar across your back and a squat rack or spotter. What does squating have to do with biceps you may ask? If you squat, you build a strong core. This core means you can lift heavier weights on rows and bench for example. This increases the strength of your back, chest and shoulders. In turn this means you can then curl much heavier weights which will give you the growth you desire.

Bodybuilding, or strength training in my case needs a holistic approach for success. If you're serious about it then start reading up and learn about the 3 key factors: diet, exercise and rest.

thanks for the advice...

I have been researching this for a while, I find people recommend different things because I feel its what has worked for them..

Rest assured I am very keen on building muscle but I just dont know how to start or what to do despite having tried a few different things I am useless at this...so desperately require some assistance? pls...

are you saying i dont have to go the gym and can do it at home? or would you recommend i go to gym?

thanks for your continued support, i wish there was 1 way for everyone rather then 500 ways for tons of ppl...

People Recommend 500 different things because they haven't a clue what they are talking about.

Read and reread GordyR's Sticky until you understand it completely, paragraph by paragraph, and follow it religiously. It is Gospel. There is only one way to do this:- Lift hard, eat hard and rest hard. Also unless you have equipment at home, to do at the very least, Deadlifts, squats and Bench Presses, go to a gym. If you don't know what the above are, reread Gordys sticky.

Nate

PS read the sticky :)
