Transport Tycoon Deluxe 32bit version

Actually i might aswell have a bash.

Here's the original TTD from a freeware site

And here is the latest version of OpenTTD
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/openttd/openttd-0.5.2-win32.exe

Now alls you have to do is read the readme in OpenTTD and it will tell you what to do with regards running it properly (what original TTD files need to be used with OpenTTD etc)

Thats as far as i've got. got it working with OpenTTD but not got a clue how to apply the patches/mods which make it look a hellova lot nicer!? Anyone know?

I still have the orginal box upstairs but my CD doesnt work. I downloaded the client from the link rossi posted but keep getting an "error reading registry" alert when i try to run the game. Any ideas? would love to play this again.
 
Chevens, you need the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe installed for OpenTTD to work, a mistake I made hoping I could play it again. I have the old dos version which doesn't seem to like XP.
 
All i did was download the first link (original TTD), and extract it to a folder. Then run the OpenTTD install and it will ask you where the original TTD is installed, point it to that folder you extracted the zip to and it will copy the necessary files over from that to the OpenTTD directory as it needs some of the original TTD files to run. When the install is finished you run the OpenTTD shortcut on ** desktop and there you go!
 
Just downloaded and installed 2 min job, clicked play chose map size of 2048x2048. How big are the maps... Huge. Gonna take me forever to build a railway network/ road / plane to cover that area. If you have not downloaded it I fully recommend you do tonight. You will still be up at 8 in the morning.
 
it seems as though the 3D vehicles and better landscapes are all applied as seperate patches. i.e, you have to patch the bus, then the coal lorry then the planes... then the land blah blah. it just seems like its a lot of work for not much of an improvement. Also, it doesn't seem complete just scanning through that website. although i got the original working :p
 
Yeah i have got the original working as well although it does seem to be a bit different, with being able to make a lot bigger maps. I would like to put on the updated graphics but as you said it seems a lot of work for not much of a improvement :(
 
Maybe someone could apply all the patches, then zip up their whole TTD folder and post it somewhere? Everyone else could just extract the zip over their TTD folder? As everything is freeware, I can't see there being any problems with this?

thing is.. i dont think there are patches for each vehicle/mode of transport in the game.. so it would look odd, only some stuff patched but not others.

Yeh you're right, there are just patches for individual things like buses and trucks. theres no over all texture pack thingy. Useless imo :( Still playing the game in all its glory though!
